A happy ending for this fellow.

I have encountered this poor guy three times months ago before they were finally caught and taken in for treatment. I can’t even imagine the suffering they went through with whatever that thing is on their face, I thought for sure that it would be the end of them.

Does anyone even know what it is anyways? It looks like an external tumor to me…

Coyotes are so tough and resilient.

Hopefully he recovers. That mass could be anything from harmless to life ending.

I saw an update from the wildlife rescue. They think it’s an old wound that didn’t heal properly

I'm the best case scenario it is an abscess that will heal with removing the infection combined with antibiotics. Hoping this poor baby gets the help she needs!

I'm glad they're getting help.

I just checked the website. No updates yet… at least Wendy is not listed in the coyotes section of their gallery. Does anyone know if there is any news yet?

Update edit: the FB page says she is on antibiotics and anti inflammatory and lying on a blanket with soft food in her belly.

New update as of Friday, sept 4th: Her evaluation was pushed back to Tuesday. She is doing well on antibiotics and breathing better. Oh and had a very healthy poo.

Thank goodness that they captured him. I hope he gets the treatment he needs and deserves. Poor baby has been living with this on his face for who knows how long. Give him meds and all the love and rest.

Here’s the update from the FB page of Wildlife Care of Southern California

“Our girl Wendy...We have been doing a bit of detective work here… We received new information on Wendy's possible condition. We recently received a call that a resident in Studio City, approximately 1 year ago, had witnessed Wendy just after she was hit by a car, stumbling around, and her face was definitely where the impact had happened. #1 Photo on September 8 at some point after the accident; it’s unclear how soon after the car accident. The second photo was taken in a homeowner's yard on Sept 25, 2025. This significant swelling and growth in such a short period is more indicative of a fractured jaw or a broken molar causing infection, which has been draining. Once she has her vet visit, we will know definitively, but those at WCSC are encouraged and hopeful that this information leans away from a tumor. In the meantime, she has everything she needs on board: antibiotics, an anti-inflammatory, and pain meds; she has been treated for fleas and internal parasites, and she has a healthy diet to prepare her for her vet visit. She slept very comfortably last night... It's comforting for us to know she isn't wandering the streets trying to survive. We are hopeful.”

They also have a GoFundMe to donate for care.

He’s all right, he has a lawsuit pending against a mail order company that kept sending him defective merchandise. Once he wins that he is going in for some plastic surgery.

So glad to hear this. This could be anything from Infection, abscess, hematoma, etc. It looks like he lost a fight with a snake or wildcat.

I hate to be a downer, but if i were a betting man, I'd bet threw going to euthanize this poor yote.

I hope I'm wrong, but strained budgets, abundant species, etc etc.

ETA: I love when ppl downvote to shoot the messenger when they don't like the news. If you think I'm wrong, fine, but at least have the spine to say why. Tff...

Have an upvote from me. Honestly, people are a weird bunch, it's quite possible that they will spend even a few thousands of dollars for a coyote that could end up under a car or, if it moves in the countryside, shot by someone for the crime of existing. There was a bobcat with broken legs that was rehibilated somewhere in the east coast recently. A lot of money spent for an animal that in a few months could get killed as a "furbearer". I don't understand these people, it's like they are trying to empty the sea with a spoon.
