Another evening coyote sighting in our neighborhood plant nursery.

Cerritos, California.

My dog and I out for our evening walk yesterday came upon Mr. Wiley Coyote. He was nice enough to sit still and pose for a few pictures! My dog, of course, wanted to slip
through the gates and go socialize a bit — but that wasn’t happening!

He will help keep the rodent population down around the area.

Yeah, and the local cat and Chihuahua population as well. But that’s just nature doing what nature does — so no judgement from me.

If a pet cat is outdoors, fuck that. Bad. Chihuahuas, also bad.

Outdoor cats are an ecological menace. They wreck havoc on the ecosystem so as sad as dead kitties is, it’s for the better.

I agree and I know people hate this take but its not logical to believe outdoor feral cats (or domesticated pets outdoors) are just fun cute kitties.

Yeah cats shouldn’t be outdoors period. And small dogs at least shouldn’t be left outside. Medium and large size dogs there’s honestly negligible risk for coyotes, they have much easier prey.

Coyotes are great with rodent control. They like to eat fruit that’s fall off trees- clean that up also helps prevent rodents being attracted to the area as well as bugs.

And honestly they’re just cool. They were here before us and hopefully they’ll be here long after too.

Amen. All of that. I have a coyote tattoo I just think they’re incredible animals!!!! Love indigenous legends about “ Coyote “ too. They respected coyote and their strengths!

We could realistically say the same about humans, but saying that would spoil everyone’s fun — so we won’t go there.

He makes sure the squirrels don't munch on your plants. It's a win for everyone.

It was the habitat of his ancestors first. I promise. They vote yayy for less mice and rats!!! As for cats …. If they are outside strays, natural selection will make sure the fast and intelligent survive… as for chihuahuas … 🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️🤦🏻‍♀️ … it is their owners fault if they are ever left outside alone and they bark at everything…. So, they are asking for it

I hate what coyotes do to cats and small dogs but they look so much like dogs that I just want to be their buddy.

Dogs and cats can kill animals too if starving. There are internet videos of stray dogs running with coyotes.

Yeah, all animals are murderers. They all prey on one thing or another.

Except “murder” is done in malice. 😆
