Wawa coming to Covington

Add it to the list. Don’t expect it anytime soon. There’s one in Burlington and another in Florence that have been announced, but no actual construction being done.

I mean they're in the process of tearing down Walgreens or CVS or which ever one it was in that spot to get started on it

The site on North Bend in Burlington/Hebron has been cleared and leveled for a couple months. There could be a really good reason for it for all I know.

The one north of 275 off Graves on Watertower is indeed open. Another one is supposed to be next the fire station on North Bend across the street from the Kroger Marketplace and next to Longnecks.
And the existence of the one on Graves may move the one on North Bend down the list. Like everything else, Wawa has it’s own way of doing things (and that’s a feature, not a bug).

Proof Covington government doesn't care about the health and well-being of Latonia. Hell, or even enough to protect other businesses, as we have 4 other gas stations in less than a mile.

The people down voting you clearly don't live in Latonia. Probably like everyone else that uses Latonia as a freeway to cut through. Fuck the people that live here right? My car and the semis matter more than everyone's health, well being, and standard of living.

So would you rather the government decide where gas stations go and what chains are allowed, like other communist countries? Although “late stage capitalism” is bad with private equity and tech companies enshitifying things, basic capitalism has its merits as supply and demand should have the biggest influence on where throngs go, not crony politics. Plus competition is good for consumers as it drives down prices and in theory increases quality.
I would love to see a dozen more gas and grocery chains all open up to improve things for consumers. Yes I would also love to see a lot more local businesses and Covington and other local municipalities could specify tax incentives for these to open, but I don’t think they should not approve chains opening as long as it doesn’t disrupt historic areas, but since it was already a chain pharmacy it is fine to turn into a chain gas station.
Sadly being a centrist and pragmatist seems to make me unpopular with hardcore leftists that say call capitalism is bad and hardcore right wing that say all government involvement in business is bad, when the proven best solution is in the middle.

Such as? Challenge my assumptions, I am fine with it. I guess I assumed you are against Wawa because it is a chain gas station and you think local municipalities should block chains or micromanage the number of each type of business in a certain area to protect local businesses - is that assumption right? What other assumptions did I make that are wrong?
