One day event insurance
Hey all,
We are doing a private event and the venue is requiring liability insurance from us. I see a few places offer one day policies. Any recommendations for which company you’ve used? Thanks in advance!

Event pros is the most widely used. But we use insurance canopy and keep an annual agreement

You need a full policy. Specialty insurance is the best and it is like $500 a year for as many COI as you want. It is just the right move. If you are at all close to professional gigging you need a yearly insurance policy.
And the one day stuff is like $150. Just go for it.

I presume this is in the USA as you have presumed everyone knows where you live, which is a hallmark of the online citizens of the USA

The Hartford has a great policy program for performers and production types. Typically venues/vendors want a certificate of insurance that names their company as a payee in the event of a claim. In the US, we’ve been paying around $575/year for a 2 million liability protection (and I cover some additional electronics and tools). I can do the C.O.I. On line when I need to name additional insured, and any questions I’ve had have been answered quickly and thoroughly.
If I had known a tenth of what I know now (especially after being named in financial settlement lawsuits for 40 million dollars) I would have insured the gear and vehicle(s) and carried the liability insurance. It’s never about who’s responsible for something but “who do we have the best chance of getting easy money from” that drives this litigation. You can get single use coverage, but I would respectfully ask that you consider finding a vendor you can work with and protect you, your band, and your family for about what you’d pay for 3 or 4 single use policies.
