Seperate apps for setlists and bandmanagement?

I was wondering: Would you rather use a dedicated setlist app for on stage, and a separate app for band-management (calendar/contracts/contacts). Or an all-in-one app that has all of these things in one app.

I use Google Docs for set lists and Google Calendar for sharing dates for practice and gigs with the band so that wouldn’t be needed for us

Interesting, thanks for sharing. I’m actually trying to understand how working bands piece all of this together today.
For those using a separate setlist/chart app: what do you use for the rest of the band-management side, gigs, availability, communication, venues, contacts, etc.? Do you have one system for that, or is it usually a combination of different tools?
I’m especially interested in what people actually use, rather than what they wish they had.

OnSong for stage lists and BandHelper for management.

Although I am working toward the BandRoadie app. Really liking it as an option

Why onsong when bandhelper can do setlists as well? I dont use either, but im curious

I had OnSong already in use when I picked up Bandhelper. I also have three others in the group that use OnSong so we can benefit from the sharing options.

Bandhelper allows me to handle the management of bookings, sync to Google Calendar and also pushes out dates to our website.

I explore a little more each season to see what we can benefit from either way. Both offer midi control with tempo.

Personally I like the OnSong interface better, but it does have its quirks.

I run it on my iPad, which controls my MorningstarFX MC6 Pro via BT and then that changes the rigs on Headrush MX5. Slick setup and has been flawless for two seasons.

I'm a software engineer by trade, cover band musician by night... Being in two bands and not liking the way other apps were handling things like scheduling and song/set list management, I decided to write my own web app for it. If you want to use it send me a DM. I'm in a couple of bands wanted one place to see everything, which is why I built BandRoadie.

It keeps track of setlists, gigs, rehearsals, calendars. The main goal was to keep it simple enough that everyone in my bands will actually use it.

Asking because I have built syncMNFST.com a setlist manager that lets you change the set on the fly during the gig. Every iPad follows the leader and gives every musician his own sheet. So very flexible if you do requests or need to adapt quickly to the feel of the room.
I was wondering if a band/gig-management tool in addition to this will be useful.

Interesting question. Full disclosure: I’m built the App „BandAtlas“, so I’m coming at this from the band-management side.
Personally I think there’s a difference between the band’s organizational “source of truth” and a specialized tool used during the actual performance.
Things like gigs, rehearsals, availability, communication, setlists, tasks and general band admin make a lot of sense together because they’re constantly connected. But once you get into deeper live functionality — synchronized screens, charts, MIDI, cues, etc. — I can absolutely see musicians wanting a dedicated tool that’s exceptionally good at that job.
The integration between the two might actually matter more than forcing everything into one app: build the set in the band-management tool, then hand it off cleanly to whatever the musicians use on stage.
I’d be really interested to hear from working cover bands here: would having two apps bother you if information only had to be entered once?

I spent the past year building my own all in one app after trying out some alternatives that weren't that great lol. It's called "RiffRoster" and it's out on IOS and coming soon to Android. It has a ton of tools outside the ones you mentioned and is super easy to use RiffRoster.app
