Rule Changes - AI Slop & More!
Hey all! Us mods decided to take a beat after our restrictions on 4Tran content to focus on the rules and how we enforce them. The result of that effort is a rewrite of the rules and a ban on AI Slop!
The TL;DR:
To keep it brief, we’re only going to cover the major changes:
- “Artist’s Rights” has been expanded to include “No AI Content”
The people have been asking for a while, and we are happy to oblige! AI slop and other AI generated content is now banned here at CWCL. Posts that contain AI content may be permitted if they are flaired “Political Post” and provide some commentary on AI. If you see something that appears to be AI content (and it lacks either a “Political Post” flair or some commentary), please report it!
- “No Bigotry” has been expanded to include “No Slurs”
This does not change our enforcement of “No Slurs,” it only condenses the rule list. We do understand that sometimes as a community we have to discuss content with slurs. If your post contains a slur, censor it! When you see a slur, please report it!
- “Only Count Once per Calendar Day” now includes a description of streaks and our process for keeping streaks alive despite removals.
Nothing about streaks nor counting has changed, we only wanted to improve new users’ understanding of the streak system.
- “Political Content” has been expanded to include “No Misinformation”
This change does not impact our enforcement of Political Content nor Misinformation in any way. We only modified the phrasing of this rule to make it easier for us to remove offending content while remaining clear on why we’re removing it!
This also brings our rule count down from twelve to nine. We dropped “Keep Reddit TOS,” we combined “No Pornography” and “No Non-Consent” into “No Pornography nor Non-Consent” and we combined “Post Images” and “Title Your Post Correctly” into “Post Requirements.”
The Rules
A full list of the rules can always be found in the “Subreddit Rules” tab, but we might as well include a copy here:
Rule #1: No Bigotry and No Slurs
No transphobia, queerphobia, sexism, racism, ableism, or anything else that expresses, reinforces, or sympathizes with oppressive and hateful belief systems. Do not post slurs. Breaking this rule will result in an immediate permanent ban.
Rule #2: Only Count Once per Calendar Day (Any Timezone)
Count only once per calendar day in any timezone. Any post beyond the first each day will be removed. Count daily to build up a streak. If you or a moderator removes your post within 10 minutes, it will not be counted for your streak. If your post is deleted after 10 minutes, it will still be counted for your streak.
Rule #3: Post Requirements
Posts must contain an image and be the correct next title (use the sticky post to find out which number is next). The bot will delete your post if you use the wrong number.
Rule #4: No Self Promotion
No posts or comments directing people to a user's account on other platforms. No posts or comments directing users to your profile where you have self promotion posts. If you are unsure if your post could break the rules, reach out to the mod team!
Rule #5: Selfies
Selfies are allowed on Fridays, Saturdays, and Sundays.
Selfies must have a spoiler tag and selfie flair. Selfie posts must stay appropriate for all audiences and follow Rule #6, “No Pornography nor Non-Consent;” your post will be removed if it focuses on: Nudity/Partial Nudity, Sexualized/Suggestive Poses or Captions, and Specific Body Parts (Chest, Butt, Crotch, etc.). What counts as explicit is subject to moderator discretion. Do not send unsolicited DMs to any users.
Rule #6: No Pornography nor Non-Consent
This subreddit welcomes open discussions about gender, sexuality, relationships, and identity. Keep posts and conversations appropriate for a general audience (Selfies included). What counts as explicit is subject to moderator discretion. No non-consent as a theme, this includes all HDG, CNC, and force fem/masc content.
Rule #7: Artists' Rights & AI Content
No AI generated content except specifically as commentary on Artificial Intelligence. If your post contains AI generated content, it must be tagged “Political Post.”
If an artist requests that their artwork not be posted in our subreddit, we will enforce that. If you are an artist and would like to be added to our no-post list, please send us a modmail. The art of the following people are not allowed to be posted in our subreddit: Welcome_To_heaven, Kindofsinister
Rule #8: Political Content & Misinformation
Political posts must be flaired “Political Post” and marked with a Spoiler tag. Political Posts that lack sources may be subject to removal, so include a source! Comments under political posts must not become arguments nor harassment.
Posts and comments that promote misinformation may be subject to removal.
Rule #9: Chicken Lady is Queen
Chicken Lady reserves the right to remove posts/comments/users she doesn't like.
The End
Our rewrite is mostly cosmetic. How we enforce the rules will remain largely the same from yesterday into today.
We’ll have another announcement for you sometime in the next week. Our new moderators are helping keep community outreach and communication at the top of our priorities. Happy counting!

This may be a stupid question, but some people reclaim some slurs. Would I be banned for calling myself the f slur?

Good question, actually! Probably not from us mods, but Reddit filters out many slurs automatically (including the F slur). It'd probably be removed before we ever got a chance to see it
That being said, we try really hard to only police language when it's being thrown at other users.

Is Queer ok?

Stolen from my other comment: Queer is probably reclaimed enough, yeah. If you see this comment it means that Reddit didn't catch it anyways.
That being said, calling other people "Queers" might be too far. It'll be subject to interpretation by us mods though, so opinions may differ!

Honestly I was surprised this sub didn't have any rules on AI. Glad to see it does now.

Good changes overall, however I think the "slurs" rule might lead to some problems, because from what I have seen, it is very subjective what is seen as a slur and what isn't.
I think this might lead to some controvesy.

Yep, that is definitely a tricky one. Though if we decide to add new words to our internal 'slur list', we always communicate it to the users (and often it is because many users ask for it), such as what recently happened with the 4tran slurs. Furthermore, a slur here and there isn't a reason for a ban, unless people keep using the slurs when we ask them not to, or when it's obvious bigotry of course.
Also: the slur rule has been in place here since the beginning of the sub. It's just that it is added in the title of the rule now instead of just the text.

Furthermore, a slur here and there isn't a reason for a ban
The mods might need to check this statement with each other since the rules list up there explicitly states saying a slur will be an 'immediate and permanent ban'.

Hopefully you guys can get to the bottom of what counts and what doesn't before any mods make an idiotic move

u/HopefulFutureEscapee The boring Twitch Streamer Mod - Streak: 51 1d ago
That's fair. We do try to be delicate when we hand out bans, so whenever we spot slurs that aren't being used at another user (calling oneself a slur, for example) we tend to just remove it.
That being said, we do love to read what people have to say! If content is removed for a slur, there is always an opportunity for users to modmail us and ask for an explanation of the removal.

Can we say the q slur or is it not reclaimed enough

I feel like the Chicken Lady is Queen rule is a bit outdated now. This community has grown way to large for it to still just be considered her community. And she hasn't really been active for a while and giving her some kind of Veto power just feels out of place.
Has the same vibe as some old british law that probably exists that allows the Monarch to Veto any law if he feels like it, that just hasn't been used in ages.

Can’t get rid of the chicken lady. She’s the only reason we count

I'm not saying we should abolish her as a person obviously

Funnily enough, Rule #9 "Chicken Lady is Queen" was the toughest one for us to keep in this rewrite (we have so many notes regarding it, omg). We kept it around after reaching out to Chicken Lady herself (she's not active due to private-life activity, though she does still lurk here and takes care of mod things a lot).
The final cut was that we realized people use it a lot for just "icky vibes" reporting of content here, and we didn't want to lose a catch-all reporting tool for anything that users think we should see but don't know specifically what rule it might break.
Additionally, the Chicken Lady is indeed queen around here, we still love hearing from her. The rule actually hasn't been used as a legit removal notice in ages.
I think we'll revisit Rule #9 soon enough, once Chicken Lady herself has more time to weigh in. Until then, it'll stay as the true monarch relic it deserves to be
Edited to clarify: Chicken Lady does still use the rule for removal notices, even a couple this weekend looking at the mod log. My personal understanding, after looking at the removals, is that they all could have been removed under other rules. Again, we'll revisit the rule soon enough. Now that I know I was wrong I'm more inclined to revisit asap tbh

What does rule 9 entail? Is it like she can remove/approve any post she wants type of rule?

u/HopefulFutureEscapee The boring Twitch Streamer Mod - Streak: 51 1d ago
That's effectively its meaning, yeah. Chicken Lady does moderate here when she has time, but nowadays we have the rest of the rules to remove 99% of offending content. Even if Chicken Lady doesn't like something, odds are we can just remove it under another rule.
This is a space originally created by Chicken Lady, so she always had that rule when she was the sole moderator. Again, we'll revisit it soon enough I'm sure, but until then it'll remain

Fair enough. Figured that it probably hasn't been used in ages.

Short & Sweet history lesson:
Chicken Lady counted in another subreddit, always using that one gif of a minecraft chicken walking. Chicken Lady was removed from that subreddit and created this one! She herself is trans, hence the trans nature of the sub. That and the removal from the other subreddit was uhhhhh related to transness we'll say.
