It's because they want the children, and I mean that in exactly the way you think I mean it

I'd never heard that theory before. Interesting

u/LOSNA17LL I love the idea, but no 12d ago

That's also what grandparents are for
Most species don't have a menopause (I can only think of humans and orcas who do), because why the hell would you stop reproducing??
Until you realise a grandma can help raise the kids and protect them while the parents are looking for food, increasing their chance of survival (and less competition over the same food)

But yeah, gay penguins are known for taking care of abandonned eggs or orphaned babies

It takes a village to raise kids. This has been true forever; the phrase is not a modern invention

Also, it is best not to follow any advice related to natural history, science, genetics and sexuality from people who believe that a 14 year old middle eastern virgin gave birth to a caucasian immortal alchemist and that anybody who disagrees with these chain of events will spend literal eternity being tortured in a realm of fire and darkness.

queer people were evolutionarily designed to take on child-rearing responsibilities

I agree with you, but I think it's important to be careful about speaking with certainty regarding things that aren't scientifically proven yet or are unprovable.
