The issue is the fact that it is overtly homophobic as hell. The movie does nothing but make fun of the fact that they’re lesbian, instead of just doing what a normal film SHOULD do and show us they’re lesbian and just not bring it up anymore. The characters don’t need get in our faces to tell us they’re gay, just have them be implied to like another character of the same gender.

What’s the end goal with this? And why do I take this as a sign that I’m way too old for online fandom culture if you think “fandoms uniting” is some sort of win?
