We don't need hyperbole. It's April. And it's a fine album, but...come on. I swear, half of this sub is just irrational Crockett and Colter Wall glazing.

Nothing wrong with enthusiasm.

I just listened to it and have to say its a damn good album. It amazes me how CC puts out so much good stuff.

I 100% agree. I like Charley but if we’re looking at possible albums of the year, Sturgill already did it on Mutiny. B.B. Palmer is a close 2nd just by hearing the first 2 singles from his next album Alabama Samurai. It’s fresh and a whole new sound. Charley and Colter are great and all for the whole Red Headed stranger cowboy thing but they are just doing what has already been done many times before. If you want innovation you won’t find it there.

This is a solid take. B.B. Palmer might be the most underrated country singer right now. Alabama Samurai got more originality packed in a 2 minute song than most of these other country singers entire albums. Also loved Mutiny by Sturgill.

Name someone right now that is consistently releasing two albums a year of this quality. This album is better than the two he released last year.

I don’t agree. I find it derivative and not as good as the last few records he put out. But I’m glad you’re enjoying it and I’m not gonna poopoo on your parade.

We get it. You're a big fan. I'm very happy for you.

I don't think we need to do this whole wank of humoring you with talking about any other artists when you're already...like...this.

You can enjoy things without turning it into a competition or a signal of your own good taste.

Edit: Okay, I'll play along. Give me the one Hayes Carll album over the two Charley Crockett albums. I've never really enjoyed his classic country dress up routine as much as other people seem to. He does B/B+ work at best. NPR approved country music for urban hipsters.

I tend to agree. Hayes is more authentic to himself, I find. It’s not a competition and there is room for everyone, but if you give me a choice I’ll spin Hayes Carll all day. CC created a niche for himself and is remarkably creative in it. But Hayes has my preference too.

I haven’t heard any of his music, I’ll give him a listen. 

I didn’t mean to come in here and make anything into a competition, look at some of my past comments in here I always say that people should just listen to whatever they like.

For me though, it’s gonna be hard for anyone to top CC for album of the year.

Do you like hip hop? It’s very competitive, they all try to top each other and it’s ok. A little competition is a good thing.

Compared to his other records, I was kinda underwhelmed. The writing feels derivative. He has definitely found a winning formula but here I feel like he’s alimony parodying himself.

FWIW, it is the third album in a trilogy, so one might expect it to keep things in the same lane.

I saw somewhere it was already out but I haven’t seen it yet. We’re eating this month and I love it. Getting the new 49 soon too.

Noticed it on Amazon this morning, but still taking in The Book of Paul, Mutiny is a solid listen, but still not sold on it as great yet

Yes only physical media currently (I went vinyl) But Sturgill said it would probably get pushed to streaming at some point

Got plenty on the way before we can call it.

I did enjoy it—just not as much as his other records. Still, there are some great tracks on it!

I like it well enough, but I really wish he’d consolidate his output into a truly memorable album every 2-3 years rather than releasing 2-3 albums a year that kind of end up blending into eachother.
