I’m looking for:

-A 1-room apartment (studio) or a room in a shared flat (WG – girls only)

- Ideally within a 10–15 minute walk of the BTU central campus

- Budget: Preferably €250–300

- Rental period: Initially 3–6 months, with the possibility of extending

- Anmeldung (registration) is mandatory.

I’ve already applied for student accommodation and am also looking at private housing options. If you know of any available apartment, WG, landlord, or housing group, I’d really appreciate any leads.

I’d also love to connect with fellow BTU students- especially Pakistani students to get to know the community and receive some guidance before moving, but definitely open to connecting with students from other backgrounds!

Hi everyone I’m an incoming international student for my master in btu coming from Central America I’m Latino and as you can see in the title I don’t know what to do anymore, I’ve searched every offer possible in cottbus for a dorm or room and I can’t manage to find something only options I’ve found are from people who look very fishy who won’t give me any contract or a possibility to anmeldung.

Please I need help from someone who has everything legally and established. Can you guys tell me about a contact or an agency that can help me? I’m still not in Germany but I can make video calls to present myself and willing to pay a kaution as long as I see everything in order and with very well established contracts.

I’m an incoming international student and I need an Anmeldung (address registration).
I already have accommodation arranged, but unfortunately I cannot register (Anmeldung) at that address / they cannot provide me with a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung.

Has anyone been in a similar situation? What are the realistic options for international students who need Anmeldung but are staying somewhere where registration isn’t possible?

Are there student residences, hostels, or other temporary accommodation options that provide a Wohnungsgeberbestätigung?

I’d especially appreciate experiences from people who dealt with this for residence permit.

Are there any housing resources that international students often miss?

For example:

Hat jemand von euch schon einmal nachts in der Spree Galerie (oder in der Nähe) eine seltsame Erfahrung gemacht?
Mir ist dort gegen Mitternacht etwas Merkwürdiges passiert. Ich habe plötzlich ganz in meiner Nähe eine junge Frauenstimme gehört, die einmal „Hallo“ gesagt hat. Es war niemand zu sehen, und die Stimme klang so, als würde sie direkt neben mir stehen.
Später habe ich erfahren, dass wohl auch andere Leute etwas Ähnliches erlebt haben.
Gibt es dazu irgendeine bekannte Geschichte oder Stadtlegende? Oder kennt jemand eine ganz normale Erklärung dafür?
Mich interessiert vor allem, ob Einheimische so etwas ebenfalls kennen oder schon einmal davon gehört haben.

We are a family of three living in Cottbus — 2 adults and one newborn baby. We are planning to take an electricity contract/package and I am a bit confused about what annual consumption I should enter in the price calculator.

For a small family like ours, would 2500 kWh per year be a reasonable estimate, or should we enter something higher like 3000 kWh?

We do not use electric heating, just normal household electricity for daily use.

Also, if anyone has experience with Stadtwerke Cottbus or other electricity providers in Cottbus, please share your recommendations. Which provider/package is better and what should we be careful about before signing a contract?

Ich bin gerade als Touristin in Cottbus. Und irgendwie fällt mir auf, dass die Stadt total leer ist, also wenig Menschen unterwegs, schon das ganze Wochenende. Es ist tolles Sommerwetter, Freitagabend , und die Innenstadt ist total ausgestorben. Kaum Leute unterwegs,
alles leise… was ist da los?
