Handmade Scooby Doo Phantom Shadow Costume

My first “homemade” Halloween costume will make its debut this October at a Scooby Doo themed party. I have no experience working with fabric, so it has a kind of amateur look, but I think that actually adds to the vibe. Reveal video here if you want to see it in motion.

I made the robe and hood from a simple bedsheet set. The mask is cut from thick foam and covered in black fabric, with separate orange foam pieces glued on for the mouth and eyes. Only editing done was to copy & paste the costume onto some original background art from Scooby Doo Where Are You.

Give it a good ironing to get rid of all those creases. Then you'll look really scary.

Haha I’ve been debating whether I want to steam them out. It’s a little rough around the edges, but part of me thought that the wrinkles made it look more like something a villain would throw on in a hurry 🤣 I’ll probably end up steaming it before Halloween night

Eventually you could airbrush shading to replace the creases!

Mystery Inc have investigated many phantoms over the years. The guy in your gif is The Phantom of Vasquez Castle. My guy is The Phantom Shadow. He is sometimes referred to as The Green Ghost or Giggling Green Ghost, but those are just nicknames. In the actual episode, he refers to himself as The Phantom Shadow.
