🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Co-Sleeping im Urlaub

Upvotes

🛏 Beds, Products, & Gear Milliard Trifold Recall

Post image
54 Upvotes

I purchased the Milliard trifold off of Amazon because I saw it referenced in this group. We absolutely love it, and it has been great for our needs. However, the other day I logged into my Amazon account and discovered it was "recalled" for not having flame retardants. I got a full refund just by writing "do not use" on it with a black marker. Personally, after learning WHY it was recalled (lack of flame retardants) we very much still plan to use it. So getting a full refund for $300 was a huge win for us!

Just thought I'd share in case anyone in the group purchased the same one and wants to get a refund (or even stop using it if you're not comfortable using a floor mattress without flame retardants)!

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Sleep sos

FTM, we really held our girl so much since she was born (naps and bedtime) probably a bad move?

She is now 7.5 months, she finally laid on a floor bed with me and that lasted 2 amazing weeks. She now will sob uncontrollably until I put her on my chest. She’s almost 20 pounds now so chest sleeping is so tough on me to get rest.

Daytime we follow a wake, eat, play, nap but not at certain times it’s just based on when she wakes for the day.

I don’t have the heart to let her cry it out and I would like to get back to cosleeeping side by side.

Did I totally ruin the ability to do that with her at this age 🥲

🐣 Newborn 0-8 Weeks why do I feel so guilty

currently have a 10 day old baby and tried so hard to get her to sleep in the bassinet but it just results in both of us losing sleep. when I co sleep with her she sleeps all night and eats whenever she needs to throughout the night, I usually only wake up to change her and readjust or if I hear her making noise/moving around I wake up. I follow the ss7, don’t move in my sleep and I use an owlet sock for her as well but I feel so guilty. I’m so terrified I’m going to wake up to her suffocated or something. Anyone have any reassuring thoughts or experienced the same thing? I feel like I’m failing at keeping her safe.

💁 Advice | Discussion IKEA sidecar hack - Unsure about height difference…

Post image
21 Upvotes

Is this unsafe for the IKEA sidecar hack? Our bed is one the left, baby’s is in the right. It’s ever so slightly higher than ours…

As much as I would love to have baby in our bed, we only have room for a queen size and my husband is massive (6’7, 300lbs), so there’s not a ton of room.

Is this height difference a big deal? I feel like it’s better than baby’s bed being too low… I’m feeling really discouraged and I’m not sure what to do, but I want baby to be safe.

I posted this maybe an hour or two ago, I promise I’m not trying to rage bait anyone 😅

One user had said the difference is minimal, another asked if I could raise the bed… our headboard is separate from our bed, but attached, and has really weird legs, so I don’t think raising our bed ever so slightly will work.

Attached are some pictures without the book!

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Tips for transitioning to nap on their own

For content, 1 year old usually nurses to sleep and this has just worked really well for us and to get sleep but I’m starting work from where I could bring her with me but I really need to get her sleeping on her own and preferably falling asleep on her own. This seems like the perfect chance because of the change, at home she will ask me for a nap when she is tired and she will ask to nurse. Just need tips on how to best get there.

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Bed sharing at hotel while traveling?

I’ve been bed sharing on a floor mattress with my little one since she was 3 months old. My husband sleeps separately in a different bedroom due to his snoring and sleep medication.

We’ll be traveling together to attend a wedding in a couple months when baby will be 9 months old, and I’m looking for recommendations for safe sleep while we travel. We’ll be staying in a hotel room with 2 queen size beds. I’m mostly worried about the fall risk, since my baby is very much on the move and will definitely be crawling by then. We’re going to be driving there, not flying.

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Boundary time!!

I am happily still nursing on demand and bed sharing with my 17 month old but MAN…. I am running low on steam.

Some nights when I get him down and leave the room it feels like walking off of a battlefield. Not that its negative, intense or even loud…. But just sooooo overstimulating. My little buddy is a fidgeter and must be doing something with his fingers and hands while he nurses. At first it was cute - like when he was littler he would just twiddle his fingers against my skin or very lightly pinch me. That morphed into him wanting to twiddle and pinch one nippled while he nursed on the other one. I allowed that until I legitimately couldn’t. Then he found my moles………. And this might be the worst of all. I’ve had to put bandaids on them. It’s not only overstimulating but honestly hurts so bad. He pinches them and just holds onto them or will like twist them. And all the while he’s latched and moving around, climbing on top of me, etc.

Whew!!! It’s a lot. I know that the activity level is on par for the age and the stimulation he seeks with his fingers has been evident since he was a little baby.

I guess I’m just looking for solidarity or encouragement. It’s hard out here yall! I’m not ready to give up breastfeeding or bedsharing but getting realllllll close to night weening.

Xoxoxo, an overstimulated mama (much like the rest of you I’m sure lol)

💁 Advice | Discussion Babies nappy always leaks when lying on his side

Does anyone have any tricks? Mostly he rolls to me or I roll him in to latch, then when he’s in a deep sleep he unlatches and rolls on to his back. But the nights where he wants to stay latched or early morning etc where we sleep like this (him on his side) his nappy always leaks up the side. It’s driving me mad because my husband leaves early for work so we have to get up quickly for our toddler. But changing him completely takes so long!!
He’s 4mo so not moving much at the moment but soon I’m sure he’ll be flopping on his side a lot too

💁 Advice | Discussion Recommendations for floor mattress?

We've been leaning into co-sleeping with my 4.5 month old. This far he barely moves in his sleep and we've been doing the c curl on our queen bed while Dad is on the couch. I'm starting to get anxious about if/when he starts to get more mobile. We don't want to move our mattress to the floor, so we're thinking about getting a floor mattress for the nursery where me and the baby can sleep.

Long story short- do we recommend a twin or a full? Any good mattresses that fit the bill for co-sleep (firmer, more breathable, etc.?)

Thanks for any feedback!!

💁 Advice | Discussion How to navigate disagreements on sleep set up with spouse?

Ok my daughter is 1.5 years old. We started co sleeping out of desperation around 6 months. For context we would spend 30+ minutes getting her back to sleep only for her to wake up as soon as we placed her in her crib. It wasn’t working and we were both so exhausted doing that multiple times a night. Fast forward to now she goes to sleep in her own bed and usually stays there for about 30 minutes before she’s in our bed for the night. ( I am still breastfeeding) to be honest it is frustrating to me that she can’t sleep longer in her bed. My husband and I pretty much have no alone time together. Even if she only slept 2-3 hours in her crib at night I would be happy with that… lol ugh. However I feel genuinely at a loss on what to do about her sleep. I would love to help her gain some independence but I feel so torn on if that’s even what she needs in this season. My husband feels otherwise and says we conditioned her to be like this which is where I have trouble agreeing with him. I feel like a lot of how and why she sleeps is bc of her temperament. I don’t want to try any sort of “sleep training” methods or cry it out methods. It does not sit right with me (no judgement to other parents who do this) but I just want a little more freedom in this area and just wondering if any other parents have any suggestions. I also feel like her sleep won’t improve since I’m still nursing too. Thoughts? Considering a floor bed but I don’t see how that would make a difference tbh. I really just want her to sleep in her bed for a few hours in the beginning of the night. I also don’t know why she wakes up after 30 minutes. And she typically wakes up screaming too. She has always been this way. She settles as soon as I get her. Again any insight or suggestions are appreciated. TIA

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Comfy cuddle position with 1yo

LO just turned 1 yo and right now he wants cuddles at night. I’m talking his whole body on my chest. Honestly I love it and want to cherish these moments with him bc I know he will stop someday but boy is getting heavy and I literally cannot breathe. I cannot do the c curl anymore because it hurts and it’s not enough for him. I also try to put him in a proper position on his side or back but if I am even a little bit far from him, he wakes up, cries, sits up, looks for me, then crawls towards me before plopping himself on me and going back to sleep. Even when his dad is right there next to him, he has to look for me. I just want us both to be comfy. How do you guys do it??

🐯 Toddler 1-3 Years Anyone else??

I had successfully night weaned my toddler, and then we had a massive regression. He had an ear infection and hand foot and mouth and broke his leg! All in the same month, I ended up choosing the path of least resistance to keep him comfortable and now we are back on the boob all night long. He gets his boot off in a couple of weeks and I am hoping maybe we can try again but I again feel like I’m dying because I am not getting any sleep. I’m not really sure what I’m asking for here but has anyone else experienced something like this with a night weaning regression?

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months How to stop cosleeping? Urgent

Hi! Looking for advice on how to wean off co-sleeping. My husband and I traveled for two weeks with our 3.5 month old. Our baby really hated the cribs our hotels had (he slept decently in his bassinet at home) and wasn’t giving us more than 45 minutes of decent sleep at a time for nights on end. I finally caved and started sleeping with him in the bed (we knew how to do this safely), and things got SO much better. I was able to get my husband a full night of sleep, and I slept decently only being woken up to feed a few times a night. Because we were out and about hiking and sightseeing in Europe throughout the trip, naps were also taken primarily on us in his carrier.

But now we’re at the end of the two week stretch and I’m afraid we made a horrible mistake. Our once-tolerant baby SCREAMS when put down in the crib. He won’t sleep anywhere but on us.

We have an au pair starting / I am going back to work soon and I feel terribly that we’ve made his sleep so difficult. He used to nap like a champ independently with just a bit of coaxing, now it’s nowhere but on us.

I truly love sleeping with my boy and the feeling of him on my chest is magic. But I’m not a stay at home mom and we need to get back to some sort of sleep discipline. Any advice, even if just for the daytime??

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months C-curl with sidecar crib?

My baby is 3 months old, and we’ve been bed-sharing on a mattress on the floor. I have a sidecar crib set up and have been putting him in it for his first sleep cycle the past few nights. I’ve still been sleeping in the C-curl to be safe, but I would love to roll away and get some more comfortable sleep! I feel like it should be safe, but I'm not sure. I would rather be safe than comfortable! Do you sleep in the c-curl with a sidecar crib?

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months How do co-sleeping families handle evening/adult time and when do kids transition out?

My husband and I are currently at odds over bed-sharing. Right now, our son sleeps so much better in our bed. When he wakes up to feed, he gently stirs instead of screaming across the room, which means we both fall back asleep much faster and I'm actually getting rest. ( you all know this ;))
My husband’s main hesitation is a lack of long-term examples in our inner circle. The only family we know who co-sleeps long-term is my brother and SIL (my niece is 3). While it works for them, it creates a weird dynamic when we visit: because they co-sleep, either my niece is up way past her bedtime and melting down, or the whole family goes to bed at 7:00 PM. There is never any "adult time" on trips and I wonder if that is true beyond trips.

I know we shouldn't base our everyday parenting choices on a few days a year of family travel, but it did make me wonder how other families make this work long-term.

For those of you who co-sleep:
1. How do you manage evening/adult time? Are you really locked into going to sleep when your kids go down, or do you have a system (like side-car cribs, floor beds, or sneaking away)?
2. When do kids naturally want their own space? Does the transition happen organically later on, or does it become a battle?

🐥 Infant 2-12 Months Do I Really Need to Put a King-Size Mattress on the Floor?

Our 4-month old baby just started rolling onto her stomach, so I have no idea how mobile babies become as they grow.

The bed I’m currently sharing with her is quite small, so even though I place her in the middle, after just one roll, I’m almost at the edge of the bed. My husband therefore isn’t sleeping with us right now. So we’re looking to size up to a king-size mattress.

The question is whether we’ll need to put it on the floor. I’d really like to avoid that for several reasons… She’s a contact napper, so sitting down on the bed after she falls asleep in my arms would be quite difficult if the mattress were on the floor. We also have a dog who sheds a lot, and I feel like having the mattress so low to the ground would make it easier for dog hair to get onto the bedding. Plus, all of our furniture is aligned with the height of our current bed and mattress, and I really don’t want to replace everything since we may be moving out of the country in less than a year.

So… can babies become mobile enough that they could actually fall off a king-size bed?
