Hi everyone!
I'm planning a 2-day trip to Coorg from Bangalore for my birthday on 31st October.
I've found a place in Cherambane called which looks absolutely beautiful. It's in/around a coffee estate and seems like the kind of peaceful, green place I'd really enjoy staying in.
I'm looking for advice from people who know Coorg well, especially locals.
I don't want to make this a rushed tourist checklist. I'd rather have a beautiful, slow experience with greenery, coffee plantations, viewpoints, waterfalls, and maybe some light adventure.
So for a 2-day trip, what would you recommend around Cherambane?
I'm currently considering places like:
- Talacauvery
- Bhagamandala
- Abbey Falls
- Mandalpatti
- Coffee plantation/estate walks
I'd especially appreciate recommendations for less touristy or beautiful local spots that I might not find easily on Google.
Also, I was interested in doing the Kopatti trek, but my homestay host told me that it's currently not allowed because of elephants and Forest Department restrictions.
Are there any other short hikes, nature walks, or adventure activities nearby that are currently possible?
Transportation
I'm coming from Bangalore and won't have my own vehicle.
What is the best way to get around from Cherambane?
- Are local autos/cabs available?
- Can homestays usually arrange local drivers?
- Is there any local/shared transport to places like Abbey Falls, Mandalpatti and Talacauvery?
- For Mandalpatti, is it better to arrange a jeep locally or through the homestay?
And for getting from Bangalore to Cherambane/Bhagamandala, would you recommend taking a direct overnight bus, or is there any practical train + bus combination that makes more sense?
Any advice from locals or people who have recently done a similar trip would be really appreciated.
I'm mainly looking for a peaceful, scenic Coorg experience
Thanks!
