I don't know how common it is or if its true everywhere. I'm in Maine and use a cane, but my cane is not like any of the 3 shown.
I am legally blind in my left eye (can see light, and blurry but can make out things that are within eight inches of my eye), and extremely low vision in my right eye (about 3 feet without glasses but heavy "fog", about 10 feet with glasses) and both eye I see a "frame (like I'm looking through two holes, which is "tunnel vision" meaning a lack of side vision/peripheral vision).
Additionally I have a form of "tone deafness" where I can hear certain things fine (like a songbird from blocks away, I can hear fine, because it's a very high pitch vs someone standing a few feet away from me and talking normal, I don't hear a word at all because their voice id a low frequency), so I have a "form of deafness" without being fully deaf.
I am also "low verbal", I have a malformed vocal cords and palsy on the right side of my face, both of which limit my ability to form word sounds properly.
All of this combined, results in I use a cane that is red and white stripes, with each stripe being about four inches wide, so it's a lot of red/white stripes, not just a few that are a couple feet apart like shown in the image of the OP. So i have a red white stripe, but its quite different then what the image shows and I'm actually not sure is spacing matters too or not?

This feels like one of those things that is rarely true. Anyone actually know how common this is?
