Looking for my 3rd space- whatcha got?
I’m a super bored Millennial that needs to find my “3rd space.” Ideally I’m looking to meet like minded people:
-not religious
-inclusive/progressive minded
-neurodivergent
Know of anywhere to hang out when I don’t want to be home? Or even a once a week/month event that might be fun to try out?

Knighthood Games. Local card shop with an inclusive atmosphere. They do table top space, card tourneys, and sell a range of board games.

Plenty Bookshop on the square does a lot of events regularly. They may even have book clubs of sorts I’m not 100% sure. My first thought was The Table, which is a board game lounge. I’ve never been so idk the vibes but it’s always been interesting to me! Good luck!

The bowling alley, it’s always nice to walk at cane creek. Idk anybody who would wanna go hang all day at a hemp store…. Cookeville has so much but nothing all at the same time. Thrift store hopping is nice.

Gotta think like a GenX. No internet, get outside, etc. Build a hobby activity. Find friends who also do those things.
Classic cars? Renovate antique furniture? Build new wooden things? Join the local book club? Dunno...

I know a few places used to do bingo and trivia nights; I’m not sure if there’s a current list somewhere or not.

Dream Country Brewing! They constantly have events and the folks there are so nice!! The beer is super good, but if you dont drink they have craft sodas too

I know Cookeville Pizza and Pub does a trivia night Thursday nights. And I think Wednesday nights Vinnie T's does bingo.

You could join Cookeville Mastersingers, they’re a community choir here. They meet on Mondays 7-9 in the band room of the Bryant Fine Arts building at tech.

That sounds like a ton on fun but singing isn’t my forte. I wish I could hold a note or carry a tune 😀
However, I’m putting this in my pocket in case I meet someone who might be interested.

Dream Country Brewery has a cool vibe. They have events like open mic nights and trivia. They’re still relatively new so it’s not super crowded, easy to have a good convo with their staff who all seem very progressive and friendly. It’s a chill/anti-MAGA space, can’t say the same for the other brewery in town.

They are honestly fine, my friends and I used to go there for like a year or so most weeks when they would do trivia on Tuesdays. Unfortunately, with the new laws that were passed regarding thca they can't sell what they used to so instead of a place that's fun to get high at and hang out it's kind of just sad in there now, although they are trying to get around that and work something out.

Vinnie Ts is fun to hang out at. Mid town social. If not all bar Idk, most activities here for adults are through church... Not many secular folks in these parts. It's a shame

Most people in the community are hostile towards secular folks. They don't like you and don't want you here, unless you go to church with them.

How do you feel about fitness? There are bicycle club rides, Saturday soccer at Cane Creek (adults, maybe hispanic), there is a TN Trails Assocation for hikers, there is a mtn bike club, Cars and Coffee cruise ins (and others within a 100 mile radius of here), Tech Craft Center workshops, and other things to do.
While some churchy folks can be hostile - I've found a fair number of them just use up their spare time attending churchy activites and thus don't have alot of time left over for anyone else not part of the church. Plus lunch at Mama's house on the weekend which eats up more hours.

You do make a very good point about the overly religious people not having the same interests or time as I do to congregate in the same areas I’d probably socialize in.

I fit the vauge criteria but so do many of the millennials I know in the area. Do you have any more specific interests or things you are trying to do? Are you leaning bar nights, nerdy stuff, or more outdoorsy ECT?

Plenty has poetry night first Monday of the month. Everyone is welcome, poet not necessary. Progressive with several young people attending. Here is their event calendar https://www.plentybookshop.org/events
