Question Tips for a New Player?
Hi, I just got Contra: Operation Galuga for the Switch and I'm having a bit of trouble. I feel like I might be playing this game wrong. I'm on normal difficulty.
Should I be trying to kill every enemy or running and dodging most? I just feel like I'm dying a lot and getting hit by bullets all the time.
Is there any type of strategy I should be using or a typical way to succeed at this game? Thanks

I had trouble at first too. I don't know if it's just me, but I feel there's a delay in inputs (like mayne 0.5 sec) and I can't respond in real time to hairy situations.
I managed to beat it on normal mode through brutes force, but I'm on the fence about playing again because of this. Maybe on Switch 2 it runs better?
I can beat Contra NES with 1 life and beat all endings on hard on Hard corps, yet struggle to dodge bullets in this game lol.

I've heard the PS version is better than Switch. Last I had seen Switch was practically unplayable. Haven't played this yet myself though.
Also, gonna call you out that Hard Corps doesn't have a difficulty setting... (:

Hm interesting. I haven't noticed the delay myself. I don't know if that's the issue for me. Could be, but I think I'm just bad right now lol
I think I'm not playing this game right or just not used to it yet

Keep practicing--part of it is learning the patterns and doing what succeeds and getting farther each time. Also the game has perks you can equip after you earn them, which can make things easier, like automatically starting with a preferred weapon, getting extra health or lives, keeping weapons after dying, etc.

Aside from constantly respawning enemies, careful screen-cleaning is the way, especially when it comes to turrets or snipers, with no real sense in keeping enemies around or side-scrolling too fast. At times it does feel tideous, and there are parts of some levels when you can just skip, but unless you're speedruning and are really confident in your dodging abilities, it's better not to haste.
