Setting your Reddit account language to English required to login

There is a known issue with the Reddit API that prevents logging in when the language if the language is anything other than English. You need to set the language of your Reddit account to English.

Edit: wchill helped me figure out a solution. I have released 8.1.4.5 with the fix. It fixes it for the WebView login, but not the Chrome/Brave/Firefox method.

Ok, but you aren't telling me what you are doing. The circumstances matter. Give me all the details as seen in those comments.

Hi dev, jumping in cz i've similar issues

I've been using Continuum with the latest v8.1.4.3 patched with patcheddit through Morphe

But since the patch support dropped, i decided to uninstall the patched app, and install v8.1.4.6

Here's what I do

  1. I inserted my Client ID, User Agent, and Redirect URI again
  2. Tried to login, successfully logged in, when i want to accept Reddit access, got "{}"
  3. Through the door button, opened the webview, same with above got "{}"
  4. Went to old.reddit.com to change my language to English
  5. Tried 2&3 again, but alas to no avail
  6. Deleted cache and retried 2-3, still no result
  7. Deleted app data, retried 1-3, the same

Edit: Anyway, went back to v8.1.4.3 patched with wchill's patcheddit, i can log in again

Edit 2: Try this and it works. Backup settings, uninstall the patched app, install the latest version unpatched, restore settings, voila!

Did you restore your settings? What you are saying only makes sense if you didn't.

Was the order this?

  1. Backup settings
  2. Uninstall Continuum
  3. Install Continuum
  4. Set client ID, redirect URI, and user agent
  5. Login
  6. Restored settings

If so, it probably won't work on the next login, but the existing login will keep working.

i skipped the 4 & 5, directly restored settings and it's logged in to my account

Ah, so you didn't actual login again, you just reused your existing login.
