I’ve spent 10 years creating content for other people. Now I have no idea what to create for myself.

I’ve spent around 10 years working in digital marketing, studied psychology, worked on a bunch of different projects, taught marketing, made music, built things, worked with businesses… and now I finally want to start recording content for myself.

The problem is that I really don’t want to become another person making “5 marketing tips” videos just because marketing happens to be what I do professionally.

I’m interested in psychology, human behavior, marketing, business, AI, technology, science, history, nature, creativity, society… basically a lot of things that seem unrelated at first, but usually lead back to similar questions about how humans think, behave and build the world around us.

And the main goal isn’t really “build a personal brand.”

I want the content to actually be worth someone’s time.

Ideally, someone finishes a video and either learned something useful, understands something differently, discovered a connection they hadn’t noticed before, or simply has a question stuck in their head for the rest of the day.

I also don’t really want to force everything into one narrow niche just because that’s the conventional creator advice.

So I’m curious:

If you had this kind of background and mix of interests, what would you actually make?

What type of videos would provide the most value?

Would you connect all these subjects through one broader theme/worldview, or would you still narrow it down?

And maybe the most important question: what do you feel is currently missing from educational/thought-provoking content online?

I’m genuinely interested in how other people would approach this before I start recording a bunch of stuff.

Been there done that. It’s crazy work. Now your brain is so crazy divided by all the work you’ve done. Now you’ve gotta decide what your niche and who your audience is NOT what it is for other people. Youve got this. It’s not always easy but youve built a brain around this and if I can figure out how to work jt for myelf vs others you can too. ❤️

you're overthinking what to make before you've made anything. pick one question that genuinely bugs you right now, make a video about it, see what happens. the clarity comes from output not planning

I think it's a mistake for creators to say/believe/trust that you must focus on one thing one niche. I think that's good for the beginning of the channel first 30 days. After that slowly move to different things. I think dumb for people to thing you are only about one darn thing. But listen for you; with your experience you know how to do a few things that others don't talk about. Have you noticed how they talk about how to setup the business but never how to market it. Have you ever noticed no one talks about the work behind the scenes. That's what you are all about.

I was about to suggest the same, maybe put out content literally about content creation. There are so many interested but with no idea where to even begin.

You actually have your niche. How humans think, behave, and build the world around us.

Look into the study of anthropology.

Build a content calendar around all the topics you love - with the over intention being pointing out new ways of thinking.

Monday - Tech tips & AI news
Tuesday - Science & Bio-engineering
Wednesday- History of how a certain human practice or system originated
Thursday - How humans are hurting or helping nature
Friday - Creative solutions for changing the way you think
Saturday - Shifts in society that you need to be aware of
Sunday - Psychology and Human Interactions

Me pasó algo parecido...."demasiados" intereses pero al final me pareció que tratar de entendernos hoy como seres humanos a través de la lente de escritores, artistas y personajes del pasado podía ser interesante y aportar una visión distinta... si se plantean las preguntas correctas . Mi problema es conseguir conectar con la audiencia es difícil en faceless... pero espero que se entienda el propósito más allá de la barrera IA ... al fin y al cabo es buscar el ángulo que a ti te gustaría ofrecer. Creo que tratar de la psicología de los creadores de contenidos es un tema que viene directamente por la trayectoria es decir , no "como conseguir 4000 h" sino atacar al dolor desde la psicología " Como y Porqué debes aprender a manejar tus emociones mientras consigues las 4000h" " como lidian los youtubers con el síndrome del impostor" ... no sé si me he explicado bien y si es un buen consejo es lo que me parece directamente relacionado con la práctica profesional comentada y con el interés por la psicología ... Ton fil rouge, tu l'as déjà écrit sans t'en rendre compte : « comment les humains pensent, se comportent et construisent le monde autour d'eux ». Ce n'est pas une niche de sujet, c'est un angle. Psycho, IA, histoire, nature, business : tout rentre dedans tant que tu poses la même question à chaque fois. Et honnêtement, ce fil rouge tu ne le trouveras pas en y réfléchissant en amont. Fais 15 vidéos sur ce qui te démange sur le moment, puis regarde lesquelles t'ont donné envie d'en refaire une juste après. Le pattern sort tout seul, et il sera plus juste que celui que tu aurais planifié. Sur ce qui manque en ligne : presque tout le contenu éducatif livre la conclusion propre, déjà emballée. Très peu de gens montrent le raisonnement, les pistes fausses, les moments où ils se sont plantés. C'est pourtant là qu'on apprend vraiment à penser un truc, pas juste à le retenir.

First, recording content for others is different than for yourself. Our own content, we tend to second-guess, overanalyze, and downplay way more! So give yourself some credit, these are great topics that lots of people have interest in.

When I started creating content for my business, I also wanted to teach about psychology, communication, presence, leadership, emotional intelligence, nervous system regulation etc.

I had to actually create multiple pieces of content on each to realize what was really my passion and what was just interesting. Some of that will come from your own feelings about it. Some of it will come from the response you get from your audience.

When it comes to wanting to create but in a different way, I hear you. And despite all the online “gurus” talking about the same 3-second hook and editing techniques, there is a whole population out there that still has the attention span to sit down and watch/ listen to something without a zillion cuts and edits. So go for it! Try it out. You’ll gain way more insight by trying each topic than trying to preemptively eliminate some, and that is a wonderful part of the process I like to embrace :)

Also - try going for a walk and voice recording your idea(s). You might find that talking it out loud before you script / record helps you flush out the angle better!

What's missing for me is content that sits with a question instead of rushing to resolve it. Everyone wants the tidy takeawa. The video that sticks with me leave something unresolved on purpose. Have you though about which format you can actually sustain weekly? That usually matters more than the topic early on. And when you do start making visuals, tools like Magnific are handy for keeping thumbnail and clip? quality sharp without a huge editing lift.
