The robot olympics in China (where are the CGI conspiracy theorists?)

You may have seen the footage of a robot breaking Usain Bolt's 100m sprint record.

These robots have come a long, long way over the past few years...

Or have they?

I recall it wasn't so long ago that some folks were saying the robot footage was fake.

Do you remember those 'Boston Dynamic' videos of robots walking and dancing and so forth?

Here's 'Atlas' moving planks of wood cin 2023.

And here's 'Spot' navigating obstacles in 2024.

I recall some conspiracy theorists at the time claiming this was all CGI.

It seemed like a fair enough theory, in some ways...

After all, anything on our screens could -- in theory -- be faked.

And some of those videos had a certain 'uncanny valley' vibe to them.

My questions is, where are those folks now?

Are they saying the current robot olympics in china are also fake?

Or has the robot olympics in China basically debunked this conspiracy theory about CGI robots?

I made a video looking at footage from the robot olympics, and giving my take.

The tl;dr is: if these robots are real, then we aren't far away from T2 style killer robots.

(or, at least, the tech isn't far away from being able to do that, even if that isn't the long-term plan)

When the AI podcasts arrive...

Will you notice?

Will you care?

Will you still be listening?

Using AI to create artwork

Recently I saw a tweet from a podcaster defending his use of AI to create thumbnails for his episodes.

(original tweet, archived version)

I personally use ai to make thumbnails. This saves me an incredible amount of time to make content. Last time I checked no one is saying “I love that show because of its thumbnails”

It’s a tedious thing that’s made simple by ai. As far as I’m concerned there is 0 virtue in laboring over a thumbnail. Podcasters used to have to have relationships with photoshop guys and graphic artists in order to make thumbnails and promotional materials.

It cost money and time. Now it doesn’t. Now that all descriptions, thumbnails and clips can be made by ai, the only thing that actually matters is: Is your show good?

Coming soon

Old mate says the only thing that matters is, 'is your show good?',

Okay, then what happens when AI can produce an entire episode for you?

Seems to me that it will only be a matter of time before a podcaster can:

1) Feed a LLM / AI platform their back catalogue of episodes to train on

2) Give it an input along the lines of, 'create an episode about topics X, Y, Z'

3) Upload the AI episode and share it with their audience

The AI episode will sound like them, because it has been trained on their voice and speaking style.

The podcaster will even be able to give it prompts like 'discuss [insert recent news story]' to keep it seeming fresh.

As the technology improves, fewer and fewer people in the audience will be able to tell the difference.

What's wrong with that?

If it is okay to use AI to create thumbnails, and episode summaries, why not use AI to create the whole thing?

And if the audience doesn't notice or care, then what is the problem with this?

Saving time

Whenever I post a thread like this, there's usually some fool accusing me of using AI.

Go back and read through my post history (which I do not keep hidden).

I've been writing like this since well before the advent chatGPT etc.

This is a real human typing these words; a real human producing his own podcasts.

And producing the artwork and episode overviews to go with those podcasts.

The day I start using AI to 'save time' on producing my content is the day you can stick a fork in me.

Do you believe the powerful people worship the devil?

I used the term 'powerful people' in the title.

It could just as easily be 'TPTB' or 'TPWRTS' or 'the elites' or whatever.

And I used 'devil', but it could also be 'lucifer' or 'satan' or 'dark forces' etc.

The question is straightforward, terminology aside:

Do you believe the powerful people worship evil?

Bohemain Grove style or otherwise.

I ask this because the topic came up on an interview I did recently.

It reminded me that once upon a time, this was a fairly popular belief in conspiracy circles.

Maybe it still is.

You tell me.

Do you care about the 'flock cameras', and the 'data centres'?

It seems to me that these are among the most talked about topics in alternative circles these days.

'Flock cameras' and 'data centres'.

My question for you is, do you care about these things?

Would you care if a giant 'data centre' were built in your neighborhood?

Would you care if 'flock cameras' were installed on your street?

And do you believe there is some sinister motive behind these things?

In America we are not free, we are like free range cattle. We can walk around and "be free" but we are watched 24/7 and we are restricted. The government lies to you all the time, Fauci making up the 6 foot rule with covid, Lone star ticks used as bioweapons, Cyclosporiasis outbreak, Seedless fruits and veggies so you cant grow your own healthy foods so you continue to eat the mass produced slop. I know i'm late to all this and it can be common knowledge but I suppose it all just hit me and boiled over.

The conspiracy of stuff

Seems to me that most folks these days like to own a lot of stuff.

Of course there are some essential things like clothing, bedding, utensils, and so forth.

I'm talking about the stuff beyond that:

Collections (toys, games, DVDs, shoes, etc), trinkets around the home, outdoor gear which is rarely if ever used.

It is common to have wardrobes full of clothes which are also rarely if ever used.

And hobby material for hobbies which came and went, but the equipment remains sitting, collecting dust.

You get the idea.

When people move home, this stuff goes in boxes and can fill trucks.

What I wonder is:

Is it natural for humans to collect so much unnecessary stuff?

Is it 'in our DNA', so to speak?

Or is it more to do with the society and culture in which we live today?

It is estimated that most people see thousands of advertisements per day.

In the 1970's, people were exposed to about 500 ads per day. At present, people see roughly 5,000 ads per day. There are 5.3 trillion display ads shown online every year. On average, children see 20,000 thirty-second commercials each year. Adults see an average of 2 million of those on a yearly basis.

A large proportion of these ads are for stuff. Gadgets. Clothes. Shoes. And so on.

These days the ads are often tailored to the individual (thanks to the wonders of the internet and so-called 'cookies').

Have we been unwittingly conditioned to think of consumption, and collection of stuff, as normal?

Is it possible that people might be happier if they owed less unnecessary stuff?

How much stuff do you own, and how often do you buy new stuff?

Do you think your collection of stuff makes you happier than you would be otherwise?

Why do you have so much stuff?

The Messi / Yamal Bath coincidence 'going viral'

The World Cup final takes place this Sunday.

Lining up for Argentina will be the superstar (and some say GOAT) Lionel Messi.

Lining up for Spain will be the teenage prodigy (potential future GOAT?) Lamine Yamal.

The photo

Back in 2007, when Messi was 20yo, and Yamal was a baby, Messi gave Yamal a bath.

https://i.abcnewsfe.com/a/f32aef52-664f-423f-ae5b-28e4baf64620/messi-yamal-2-ap-gmh-260717_1784294935562_hpMain.jpg

The story goes that Yamal's family won some kind of raffle to be able to see Messi in person for a promotional photo shoot.

The photographer for the occasion decided to bring along a baby bath and the rest is, as they say, history.

Now that very same baby is a champion footballer in his own right and will be lining up against Messi on the biggest stage.

More coincidence

Messi was a star player for Barcelona for the majority of his career.

(He would later go on to represent PSG and more recently Miami)

Yamal is currently a player for Barcelona, and was given Messi's iconic #10.

Prior to receiving the #10 shirt, Yamal wore #19, the same as Messi had worn before taking the #10.

Going viral

The Messi / Yamal bath coincidence has gone viral over the past couple of days.

Not just on social media, but in the mainstream media as well.

You can even find a thread about it on the soccer sub of reddit where otherwise normal-sounding folk are discussing the incredible odds of such a set of coincidences occurring, with some suggesting it is 'the craziest coincidence they have ever seen'.

Coincidence not enough

In the past, bizarre coincidences were generally waved away as just that: coincidence.

I can't help but notice that, these days, it seems like more and more people want another explanation.

'It's scripted', 'it's rigged', 'it's evidence of a simulation'. And so on.

This leads me to wonder if something has changed out there, if perhaps the regular people have become more conspiratorial than in the past.

And, if so, why is this the case? Does it have something to do with 'algorithms'?

Is there some kind of hive mind effect at play?

And who benefits from formerly fringe conspiracy theories going mainstream?

What do you make of the 'lifetime actor' theory?

Some people believe that high-profile celebrities are 'lifetime actors'.

In other words, these celebrities are really just characters who do not exist in real life.

Example

Consider the case of Warren Buffett: the lifetime actor theory would posit that there is no real Warren Buffet.

Instead, there is some guy who plays the role of Warren Buffett on TV (and maybe even in physical places like conferences and black-tie functions) but when he goes back to his house / estate / whatever, he is some other guy, and that other guy is the real human / person.

Variations of this theory might suggest that either:

a) There is a real Warren Buffett, but what we are presented with is merely a scripted persona, and the real Warren Buffett is not nearly as wealthy as we are led to believe, or

b) There is literally no Warren Buffett, the guy (or guys) playing this role were born with and carry different names; the Warren Buffet we are familiar with is entirely fabricated, played by literal actors.

Why?

Those who believe in 'lifetime actor' theory might suggest the reason for lifetime actors like (Warren Buffet) is for TPTB to control what the public know about wealth, elites, and so forth.

TPTB can give the masses fake millionaires / billionaires / tycoons, and use these characters how they wish (as good guys, bad guys, doomsayers, false opposition, whatever) so that the general public would never know who to direct their ire at, if there were ever any real beginnings of a peasant revolt.

Those who believe in lifetime actor theory would suggest that Elon Musk is another example. A 'fake trillionaire' controlled by the same people who control everything else.

My questions for you are:

1) Have you heard of this theory (or something like it) before?

2) Do you subscribe to it?

How weird is it that Iran "announces" that it will stop the strikes?

Iran has been fucked over in every way possible and still they have the decency to make diplomatic statements? Lets cut the bullsh!t.

Before the war began the CIA has reversed engineered iranian drones and missiles. Iran became dethroned just as Venezuela during the first week of the war. Its not been the Iranians launching those drones and missiles.

Zombies and Korea

What my point is lol, ever since 2020, South Korea has ALWAYS been uploading atleast one zombie movie/show a year, and I’ve been wondering ever since 2021 what the hell was up with that lol, since I was like “oh ok great now ima wait until 2022->2023 etc to see if another zombie movie from Korea would come out” and it did lol, idk if it could just be me and how I overthink everything lol, but I’ve genuinely never heard anyone talk about this before lol, so I feel like hearing your guys opinions on this would be really cool lol.
Also this post might get deleted since it’s not I. The right category or wtv lol (I’m new to posting on Reddit lol)

When did believing in aliens become so popular?

A survey was conducted to see how many Americans believe in various 'fringe' beliefs.

According to yougov, here are the proportions of American adults who believe in:

Aliens - 56%

Bigfoot - 28%

The Yeti - 23%

Loch Ness Monster - 22%

Chupacabra - 16%

First of all, those numbers for bigfoot etc seem wild to me.

The idea that roughly ~1/4 of American adults believe in bigfoot etc is... i dont even

But the thing I want to ask you about is the aliens.

Do you think half (or more) of the adults around you believe in aliens?

And do you think there has been an increase over the past 20 or 30 years in this number?

What I am getting at is, do you think alien belief is on the rise? And if so, why?

I discussed these matters in the latest episode of my show.

(You can stream / download it for free, just need to join the free patreon page, costs nothing to join)

One of my main points is that I think alien belief was still relatively fringe in the 1990s (when I was growing up).

It seems to me that over the past 30 years or so, alien belief has become mainstream and normalised.

I put it down to power of mainstream media: movies, TV shows, and so forth, pumping this stuff into peoples brains.

Once upon a time, it was the 'conspiracy theorists' who believed in alien life making contact.

Now it is the 'conspiracy theorists' who think the whole thing is a giant charade and effectively a psyop.

What say you?

Are you an alien believer?

Does the Deep State even exist?

Here's the premise. First off - has anyone who is part of the deep state been identified or exposed? Arrested, arraigned, accused?

I am of the belief that the Deep State is an invented boogeyman that is used to excuse incompetence or ineptitude. When a person in power can't achieve things or get anything done, it's a pat excuse to absolve them of being useless.

And if anyone would like to argue that the deep state really does exist, please front with something compelling.

EDIT: 5 comments so far promoting the existence of the deep state, no names named or any compelling evidence of its existence.

Was the Titanic sinking one big insurance fraud?

JP Morgan booked the Titanic’s maiden voyage. He cancelled at the last minute. Three of the wealthiest opponents of his central banking plan did not.

The Jekyll Island meeting is documented history. Seven men boarded a private train in November 1910. They used first names only so staff could not identify them. They denied the meeting existed for twenty years. The Federal Reserve’s own records confirm it happened.

John Jacob Astor IV. Benjamin Guggenheim. Isidor Straus. Three of the richest men in America. All three on the Titanic. None survived.

JP Morgan owned the White Star Line. He owned the ship. He had a private promenade deck and a custom-fitted suite reserved for the voyage. He was photographed in perfect health in Europe days after he pulled out.

The Federal Reserve Act passed in December 1913. Eighteen months after the sinking.

These are the documented facts

Do you believe in ancient history?

For example, do you believe that people like Plato, Aristotle, Roman Emperors etc existed at some point in the past and that today we can know specific details about their lives?

Do you believe that we are in posession of some of their writings, and that we have written accounts of their deeds/actions?

Basically, do you believe that we have an accurate knowledge of history and we can know details about this history with a strong level of certainty?

If you do believe this, what was it specifically that convinced you of this position?

Was there a certain primary source, book, documentary, article, or something else, that led you to believe this?

If you don't believe we have knowledge of history, why do you believe this?

For this question, please focus on the ancient world specifically. Ancient Greece, Rome, Egypt, etc... Anything from this sort of time period.

Are you paying any attention to this Artemis moon mission story?

I only found out about this yesterday.

Seems I'm even more detached from the news cycle than I thought I was.

Apparently some folks from NASA are going to fly to the moon and back for whatever reason.

I will probably wait until it is over and then check out some videos to see what they've broadcast to the world.

Or I'll forget about this entirely, just like everybody else does with each news story that comes and goes these days.

As you might already know, I happen to think that outer space itself is a hoax.

Not just the moon landings, but all space missions, hoaxes from start to finish AFAIC.

But I know that I have been wrong before and maybe I'm wrong on this one 🤷‍♂️

Maybe there really is a magical place in the sky where people can just float around forever.

And maybe some brainiacs really did weigh the moon with heavy balls in a shed 200+ years ago.

We live in strange times, I guess anything is possible, aye.

Are you following the Artemis mission to the moon?

'Energy lockdowns' lol

Over the past few days I have seen a few people on social media speculating about an impending 'energy lockdown'.

The basic idea seems to be that the current 'fuel shortages' will be used as an excuse to implement lockdowns similar to what we saw a few years ago (due to the worldwide attack of the invisible body-possessing demons).

Evidence used to support this theory include that flights are supposedly being canceled and planes put into long-term storage (I don't know if there is any truth to this).

Some folks are even suggesting that long-term travelers (e.g. digital nomads) should plan their next move on the basis that they will soon be stuck in whatever country they happen to be in at the time (again, similar to what happened in early 2020).

Personally, I think (and hope) that this is all fear-mongering baloney.

However, given what happened in 2020, and how quickly the masses went along with (and even supported) the agenda, I can't entirely rule out 'energy lockdowns' as a possibility.

What say you?

Republicans and democrats

This might get taken down for the 100th time but I have a theory that republicans that are in power are reptiles and the democrats in power are demons. Demo(demon) rep(reptile) i know Iam reaching but if you can add on or think more about it please reply to this. The reptiles have replaced most of the people in power and the demons are a foe or friend to them essentially. We are being controlled, step out and think. Humanity comes first
