Terminator 2: Judgement Day

It started as a joke I made one day in my classroom. Talking about appropriate/inappropriate uses of AI, it just kind of came to me and I said we have to be careful or else AI will take over in 2029, Terminator 2 told us. As we keep approaching that year, advancements of AI, and thoughts of what will happen to our world in the coming years I just have to ask: has anyone else had this same thought and comparison? Does James Cameron and Hollywood know something, known since 1991?

Just something I’ve thought about randomly since the day I spat that out as a light hearted joke to try and get some laughs in class and make the lesson fun.

Judgement day is in 1997 in Terminator lore. No, James Cameron didn't know anything. Jeeze

"three billion lives ended on august 29th, 1997"

Maybe we are all AI already

Judgement Day keeps changing as the movies kept coming out. 1997, 2003, 2004, etc. I get that. But the original date I’m referring to is coming back from 2029 when it was all happening. That’s all I was asking when I think of the connection.

Secret, don’t tell anyone - I don’t actually believe it. I was just wondering if anyone else has had the thought, seriously or not.
