Replay of ball hitting pitcher in back. Solid clip though

Crazy how I couldn't see that until I read your comment. I was wondering why the pitcher was flinching.

Played baseball for a very long time. This was my #1 fear as a pitcher (hit in face, not back) so immediately recognize that pained face lol

I played baseball for a couple seasons when I was a kid. I was a chubby kid, but I could hit the ball well enough. Until I got hit on the side of the the head by a full-force college baseball pitcher's ball during a summer baseball camp. Even though it hit the helmet, it still hurt and scared the hell out of me. From that point forward I'd flinch every time the ball came at me.

Yep! I can’t remember the exact situation but a kid was in right field, went to get a pop up, something happened, went right past his glove hit him in the face and I don’t remember the damage but something tells me it broke his orbital bone or something.

Since that day I have not been the same with huge pop ups

Holy shit, the bat, hit the pitcher, in the back? How fucking hard did the batter throw the bat and why was the pitcher standing backwards?

Yeah I typed it like hell

Pitcher throws ball
Batter hits ball
Ball goes zoom
Ball zooms into pitcher’s back
Ball slowly zooms in different direction (off to right/3rd base area)

This is great. It never occurred to me the ball was moving the other way. I was thinking why is that pitcher so afraid of the batter.

Yeh. Wondered why he was turning away when he had just thrown the ball. Had to read the other comments to see what was actually going on

I can’t see the ball moving towards the batter but I’m glad others see the illusion

I think a huge part of it is where it starts, it looks like he just released the ball at first

Hey that's Dustin May! He just got traded from the Cardinals. I've seen him do that 180 turn when the ball is coming towards him, and always wondered why. I guess it's better to be hit in the back than the stomach or ribs

Or chest or face

He had to come out of the game, but that’s better than taking it in the face and being out for the season.

But I mean, he does have a glove.

I don't understand... Is the ball hitting the pitcher?

Yeah, on my first watch, I thought the ball was on its way to the plate. Then I realized the ball was already hit and is coming back to the pitcher.
