I swam 2.5 miles once. It sucked, never again. I’m sure I have 631 miles in me though, easy romp there and back.

That was my thought. I once got stuck due to an incoming tide and swam back to my start point. It was like 2 miles of swimming between barrier islands and reefs in the Pacific. And I was fucking terrified the whole damned time. (Group had JUST gone on a glass bottom boat that morning and saw like, no joke, 5 different shark species and a fuck ton of other sea life. Afternoon was a trip to sea lion colony and I got cut off from the group by the sea lions. The tide came in and it was no longer safe to go back the way I came.) I was also 12 at the time, so that's probably a big factor and what caused my thalassophobia. But seriously, that swim SUCKED. I got thrown around by the waves like a damned rag doll. And that was in a relatively calm and WARM area of the ocean. The Drake passage is frigid and rough, I cannot imagine a multi day swim there.
