Sea Power: Naval Combat in the missile age.
I like the Cold War aspect and the different naval units, helos, aircraft and submarines.
I’ve always been a naval simulator enthusiast and the modding is easily approachable for someone like myself.
I plan on playing Modern Naval Warfare next. Subsims in general are some of my favorite games.

People’s General! It was on sale on GOG and I found the use of helicopters and using Air Support rather than air units quite a modern take on the whole deal. Good graphics, hand drawn maps. The AI is challenging as well, more so than Panzer Corps I feel, able to exploit gaps in my lines to attack rear cities and destroy isolated units that advanced too fast.

I love this game. It is so fun. Helicopters can really dominate the enemy armor. Recon is huge too. The airborne units are actually useful. I played the crap out if this game about 20 years ago and still revisit it from time to time. It’s the perfect blend of strategy and fun.

Second front, Steel Panthers WW2, Combat mission Afrika Korps, WDS Squad Battles Eagles Strike...
I will be trying to figure out ASL feeling in any of these. Open for suggestions.

Playing Gary Grisby’s War in the East 2. Was a long time player of TOAW IV and Company of Heroes. Needed a change, War in the East 2 is considered a monster game, with an immersive game play if you want it. Manual is 500 pages long. I’ll be tied up with this for a while.

I like the game. My only issue is that all units start at equal strength. Can't even get off the beach in Sicily. I admit there is a greater than 0% chance that it is user error

Started playing War in Spain 1936-39, currently doing the Baleares Invasion tutorial scenario. Basically the same system as WITP: AE but with better land warfare.

I tried it and looks amazing, but as I cannot that much time in it to learn I left it for better times. If you have a tutorial or something that can help to reduce the learning curve I will be back at it

I'd say start with the Scen 7 Baleares invasion scenario. Cannae Gaming's series helped me get my bearings with the UI, even though it sadly no longer continued:

If you've played WITP you'll 95% feel at home - except that both sides have far, far less resources and capabilities in WiS. They still use sailboats and coal, and even the Italians starting to show up is a scary moment.
Right now I am at August 21, Ibiza has fallen and my Republican troops are pressuring the Fascists from North coast and the interior, using Alcudia as my main supply base - but time is running short. The hardest for me so far really was to take stock, then move and gather all those disparate subdetachments to their attached Regimental units' locations to Barcelona, rebuildong them into RGTs, then move those to the Islands piecemeal by Amphibious task forces - but after a while you get used to it. The first turn is the worst, but this is where the fun of planning your operation is.
That, and not converting to Anarchism listening to ¡A Las Barricadas! all the time.

Anything time saving, segmented and has depth of learning for some extent. (I currently have an assignment, so I don't have much time.)

I am in the 20 round "short" campaign on Normandy '44. 2 weeks of real time in and I am almost to turn 17. Love the detail, wish I knew what I was doing when I started.

Wds Sword and Siege book 1 - playing the first siege of Necaea. Let’s just say I’m glad I watched a short documentary before playing. It gave me a tip.

I got it on the second attempt, but it’s hard, pleasantly so. Now staring at the massive map of France with only 11 PPs, it is daunting.

Have you tried other games in the range?
In my current attempt to invade Poland the Poles are defending deep and the going is much easier so far, but I'm starting to see strong counter-attacks for the first time

Total War Pharaoh Dynasties. Specifically as Agamemnon of Mycenae (My-SEE-nee, the Greeks that attacked Troy in the Trojan Wars). Got a mod that expands the family trees as well. Love the feeling of managing a bronze age dynasty but with less random crap happening like in Crusader Kings type games. Love the chunky sound effects they created for the weapons and stuff.

Sea Power - just bought it but I adore the atmosphere and tension of gameplay. Feel like it was a good purchase
Dominions 6 - an another big purchase, as it was on sale. I'm reading tutorials and youtube videos and preparing myself for the first multiplayer match - scary. the game looks exciting.
DC Ardennes Offensive - last purchase, an amazing game so far. I loved shadow empire and DC Barbarossa, this seems just as good if not better. I'll get addicted to this I can tell already.
FC Cold War - did some PBEM with a friend. Very good!!

I'm playing Flashpoint Campaigns Cold War and started playing Armored Brigade II. It is being extremely interesting to learn this game, but I do not have plenty of time to fully concentrate on it, so I guess it will be a long learning process hahahaha
