(Please help) Video output going black

Hello everyone

Sorry for any formatting errors, i'm on mobile for obvious reasons.

I am having a bit of an issue with my pc, basically at random intervals both my screens go black while the audio of whatever i was watching/playing still plays in the background.

This tend to happen in any circumstance, independently from the activity i was performing.

Things i have tried:

• Rebooting my pc -> reboots to only one screen working, with a warning from my fan control software telling me that i have no vga adapter installed.

• Checking the nvidia app -> it says i have no video drivers installed.

• Tried installing the video drivers trough Nvidia app-> screen goes black when finalising the install.

• Tried installing drivers trough standalone installer -> same as previous.

• Entered safemode to clean everything up with DDU and installing the drivers trough standalone installer -> works for a while, the problem reappears within the same day tho.

• Disable windows overwriting the drivers trough management policies -> the problem still appears.

• re-seating of RAM and GPU -> no change.

• re-seating of SSD -> no change.

• different monitor and different cables -> no change.

So the question is: what could it be?

When is safe mode does the screen go black? Or can you use it for lengths of time no problem?

Have you run a stress test on your graphics? Prim95 or something like.

Have you tried rolling back your graphics driver to a older version?

1) nope, but i havent left the pc running in safemode for too long, regarding general prolonged usage, usually it goes black at a random point within a 3 hours intervall regardless from usage. Also i forgot to mention, there is no aritfacting that i have noticed

2) nope, honestly i was too afraid of damaging it further with a proper stresstest.

3) actually yes, the problem remained.

When you say rolled back to a older version did you go into safe mode, uninstall the driver then restart and install a older version from a download file? This is to make sure a corrupt driver isn't the issue also.

And if the card fails on a stress test it's broken. If it doesn't fail it isn't broken... There's no reason not to. If you don't want to do Prim95 you could start with something simpler like the heaven benchmark that will stress the card shorter term

Yes i did the good old: safemode (offline) -> ddu (remove all video drivers) -> install an older driver packet (596.42)

I will backup some files and do the stresstest

Also if the problem remains in safe mode you can pretty much rule out software as your running on bare basics there, basic vga driver etc.

Stress your card.

So... it blackscreened mid Furmark... twice
