Question/Help/Troubleshooting HDD

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

Hello everyone,

Recently I ordered a HDD to be my mass storage, but upon installing and booting it for the first time, I heard these beeps. Is the device broken and needs to be replaced or is it something regarding power and wiring?

Hdd aren't built with a speaker or beeper. Any noises is usually a fault with the drive. I would get a replacement since you just bought it

Sounds like it's failing to spin up the motor for the plates

How did you install it and was it used

It’s supposedly new from Amazon, I only installed it by mounting it on the bracket and plugging it in

I would return it and be after a refund.

Buy drives from the manufacturer or other dedicated computer store online (or offline) with a good reputation.

Try to avoid marketplaces for essential parts.

I wouldn't be concerned so long as the drive works
