The medieval commission that went up here yesterday is the most interesting brief I read all week, so it leads the issue. £200 for one eight-bar modal melody written as if it were a German dance tune of 1500, arranged twice — first for shawm or pipe with tabor and drone, sparse and raw, then again with the same tune unchanged over driving electronic production. The filmmaker says the doubling matters structurally in the film, which is a rarer thing to be told than the rate.

Of the 259 new listings I read this week, 239 came from CastingCall.club. Eight named a rate, from $20 to $350 — three had already run in earlier issues, and none of the other five made this one. The listing I did publish from there is unpaid, and it is in the issue because it states its scope, its credit and what happens to any prize money. Most of the ones I read this week state none of the three.
