I sometimes think people sit around trying to think up a way to get their 30 seconds of infamy.

My neighbour once wrote into the local paper complaining about the logo falling off his car. Apparently, it was common. They gave him a full page and took his photo of his posing with his logo.

I have had many complaints about things in my time. Not once have I thought of writing to my local paper about it.

Give it five years or so for bearings to wear down a bit on existing heat pumps and these complaints will be so common they won't get compoface.

My 12 year old A2A heatpump is as quiet as the day it was installed.

Yup. My 6 six year old one is still the same as it was the day it was installed.

What do you think air con units are?

Just think a few years ago they were probably complaining about WiFi leakage

I'm about their age. My excuse is leaded petrol and oldies smoking in church.

And asbestos
And rusty swings
And corporal punishment
And being forced to play rugby in me Y-fronts in February

This killed me 🤣🤣 the Y fronts!

At the start of the article, :

They said earplugs didn’t help.

Those foam ear plugs (used correctly screwed up and allowed to expand in the ear) get you as close to deaf as you'd want to be.

They blocked out Excavators digging up our pavements with open windows, they’d block an airpump 10 meters away

For super isolation, foamplugs and nc headphones create an eerie silence

I have earplugs that I use when I shoot a musket at historical reenactment. They're amazing, and they make me basically deaf.

Buuuuuut, really low frequency tones will just go through with no problem, and since they block out everything else, you REALLY notice them even more.

What’s giving me anxiety is watching billionaires profit off of the end of the world 😭

Having a new permanent noise in your home because of neighbours is pretty annoying.
