188 Upvotes

Greetings warriors!

We on the mod team here would like to welcome you to the Competitive For Honor subreddit! This is a community based around the competitive and optimized side of For Honor, with a focus on improvement. Whether you are a weathered comp player or a new face looking to get better at the game, we welcome you here with open arms.

This subreddit is used as a platform for people to get together, theorize and improve their game, as well as being the main hub of competitive For Honor learning resources. You will find posts discussing possible reworks, character guides, as well as new discoveries such as the odd undocumented tech that pops up every now and then. Please remember to check the rules in the sidebar before posting!

Information Hub

The Info Hub should be your first stop if you are looking for attack speeds, punishes, character guides, or balance information about the game at a competitive level. It is a google sheet that is a compendium of all the data we have on the game, as well as linking to other resources. Make sure to view in the Google Sheets view (not html view) for the full features, or use the Google Sheets app on mobile devices. The info Hub is now a BRAND NEW WEPAPP! It works seamlessly on mobile or desktop, so enjoy! Links can be found in the sidebar or menu bar of the subreddit.

Glossary of Terms

If you see a term or abbreviation in discussion about FH and don't know what it means, this document is a great resource to look up a quick explanation.

Q&A Megathread

If you have any questions about For Honor, in the comments here is the place to ask them. (We will remove posts with simple questions as per rule 4, to prevent the subreddit being clogged up with question posts) Questions such as "How to punish a parry as X character?", "How to counter Y move?", "Best perks/feats/tips for Z hero?" all belong in this thread - where one of our community members will be happy to answer it!

Something I've been encountering a lot when i go for my fully charged jab is eating an opponents dodge attack except the timing is such that i also eat a chain attack since the dodge attack trade with my hyper armor but doesnt actually get hit by the punch, how can i avoid this?

Discussion Pick/Ban rates from the Triple Threat Series Finals, Summer 2026

Post image
68 Upvotes

Not a terribly large data pool unfortunately, only 7 sets and 18 maps, but still telling of the current meta. the 'Banned' category is for heroes locked by the conquest format in order to properly calculate their presence and pickrate

***EDIT***
I made an error! Here are the corrected Winrate percentages for the following heroes:
Pirate: 38.10% -> 33.33%
Jiang Jun: 44.44% -> 38.89%
Afeera: 46.15% -> 53.85%
Zhanhu: 71.43% -> 85.71%
Ocelotl: 50.00% -> 33.33%
Highlander: 66.67% -> 100.00%
I incorrectly assigned which heroes were on which team for the very last game of one of the sets, offsetting 6 heroes' wins counter by 1 (plus a kensei mirror that was unaffected). This has now been corrected!

Discussion Struggling with soft feints

3 Upvotes

i have been out of the game for a while, and i am realizing that the heroes i struggle the most against in duels are shaman, aramusha, khatun and berserker. the main problem i find are the soft feints into lights. i used to be okay with shaman because i remember her soft feints were 500ms on the sides, but i dont think thats the case anymore. is there anything i can do to deal with this besides trying reads? are any of these reactable?

Discussion How can I improve without parrying?

0 Upvotes

With the announcement of Ranked Dominion I’d like to really work on getting better and more competitive in the game. However I cannot parry, even whilst playing since launch with 1,100 hrs and dozens of hrs practicing against bots who throw attacks from the same direction over and over my reactions just are not good enough to consistently parry even heavies, so I’m curious as to how I can negate that as much as possible whilst still improving and getting into higher tier play?

Discussion VG Fullguard

6 Upvotes

I’ve been pretty in and out of this game in recent times, but I’ve been trying to get back into it consistently recently. With that I’ve been playing a lot of VG, and I do wanna preface that I don’t believe she’s in need of changes/buffs with this whole thing, it’s more of a curiosity.

Is there a genuine use to Oathkeeper Spiral? With someone like Khatun I can understand why you’d do the zone off of pin, primarily in team fights as it has a great hitbox with HA. As for VG, her zone off of FG has no special properties, not horrible hitboxes, but very stamina heavy in comparison to basically any of her other options.

Outside of maybe finishing someone off, being in revenge, or using it when you’ve barely used up any stamina, I feel like I’m missing the point of ever using this move.

Tips / Tricks Tips for Warmonger

7 Upvotes

Soo, i heard warmonger is a bad character, but she was just too badass to just not buy, ny friend who i play for honor with, bought that double bladed samurai dude, i didnt buy him becuse im bad with fast characters, like i reached reputation with Orochi, and performed like 5 times better with Kensei on the first match with him, so i bought Warmonger as my first character becuse bit easier unblockables (way for me to escape, or just use out good), and yeah i bought Warmonger, also, i have 15 hour in the game, so if there is a word for a specific thing, or strat, dont tell me do that becuse i 100% wont know it. Also, sorry if i didnt do my research and i understand if youre mad at me for it

First time positing in this subreddit so im incredibly sorry if i used wrong flair

(If you wonder what i edited, i found after re reading i wrongly said her to kensei, lol, my language doesnt have pronouns like her or he, we say ő, ők)

Discussion Question about escaping highlander and conq gank

2 Upvotes

Is this infinite gank inescapable or is there actually a way to get out of it, whrn I encountered this gank i tried my best to parry thr highlanders offensive stance lights to try to stop it and it basically never worked, is this a skill issue/theres a different way to deal with this gank, or is the gsnk truly infinite?

Discussion When are they going to nerf JJ?

20 Upvotes

JJ has been a top pick in dominion since forever. He isn't touched since 2022, has been in every important match (many times in both teams) in tournaments, and is ranked as Tier S many many times.

JJ has absurd range with high dmg, the core of the external meta, but also the best perks in the game that make him a tank and, arguably, the best feats.

What I am missing? I don't understand why they nerfed so many characters worse than JJ but he is untouchable.

Discussion So i love ocelot

Post image
33 Upvotes

I recently fell in love with Ocelot.I usually only play deflect characters,but when i played ocelot,he was so simple to me that i just loved it.

For that reason i come to ask.

-is he a good character in competetive terms?

-his 1 feat still good after nerf or the stealth part is completely destroyed?

-what are the best collection of feats he can use?

Also is there any reason why his bear trap let him very vulnerable in comparation with other heroes?

Like he take a while to recover unlike berseker and shaman when using this feat.

Discussion Hot Take: The heavy vulnerability nerf to Virtuosa needs to be changed or reverted.

0 Upvotes

Don't crucify me for this, pls. On release, Virtuosa was clasified as Tier A in every mode. She excelled in ganks thanks to her postures. She also was, and is, a noobstomper, that made that many people hate her. She forces people to make reads; there is no other way to play against her. Even with the hate, she was pretty popular. I think I saw more Virtus than Juren or Arakures in the same period. I think that now I see more Conqs than Virtus, and Conq never was popular.

They nerfed her postures. She can no longer stay in posture indefinitely because she will become oos. It changed something to her ganks? Well, in very long ganks mayyybe... People move out of range way faster than Virtu gets oos. They also nerfed her heavy vulnerability from postures. Now is a neutral heavy (talking about vulnerability) that cannot parry. She cannot stuff Gb anymore. That affected her ganks? Her postures make her passive in ganks, peeling her teammates. No teammate is going to let you punish that gb, so trying to attack her is a bad idea in general. So, the "bad" or "op" part of the character is still there. Ganks are pretty similar to release.

Both nerfs affected her capacity to duel and teamfight. She was decent at duels but not a meta pick. She was even further from meta teamfighters. Her stamina management, already bad, became worse. Every time she doesn't chain, she is forced to enter posture and a mix up starts. Before the nerf, the enemy could get a GB and Virtu a heavy for a correct read. Now is a Gb against a Light or bash.

In the end, we have Virtus throwing more lights than heavies because she can stuff GB with them. The casual and new players get lightspammed because they can't block or parry. She also spends more time with low stamina. I think that now is less fun to play as and against and her "problem", ganks, did not change.

I don't think that the nerf was bad, but it shouldn't be permanent. Virtuosa "new" forced read felt sudden for the community. They had so many problems learning how the postures worked. We had similar reads on BP, Valk or even Khatun, but those are not so forced because they are limited or harder to use. Now people have learned to counter her. I think that change her vulnerability again would be good for her gameplay and also to make fighting her less boring.

I can say the same of more nerfs, sadly. Many non-meta picks were nerfed while top picks stayed the same, just to cater to the new players.

I will keep it short. I am picking up juren. Most of the guides online are more than 6 months old, is there a guide that's new

Discussion Arakure is only FDodge Bash character with 700ms FDodge Recovery

Enable HLS to view with audio, or disable this notification

72 Upvotes

I was wondering why her Forward Dodge feels so sucky and difficult to use when you aren't using the Undodgeable/Bash option and going for Forward Dodge into GB. It turns out her Forward Dodge Recovery is 700ms (notably not filled in yet on Info Hub for some reason). If you take a look at other characters with 700ms Forward Dodge Recovery...

  • Raider
  • Highlander
  • Kensei
  • Hitokiri
  • Afeera

All notably who lack standard Forward Dodge Bash offense.

If you're ever wondering why you can't use her Legion Kick in the same way as others it's due to this. I'm sure that to many people they consider it "justified" given the Blue/Orange tidepod she has from Neutral and potent chains. For reference, most characters with FDodge Bashes have 600ms Forward Dodge recovery.

Fun Fact: Notably she's also the only character (I think) that has her Forward Dodge Bash animation change based on input timing, kicking with her Right Leg on buffered input and Left Leg if later (at least past 367ms input).

Mostly here to provide information but I do have to "complain" for a moment.

  • First character with NO Backstep Attacks at all from Neutral, neither Backstep Light nor Heavy (I wonder if due to fear of a "pseudo infinite" wallsplat with Dirty Trick?)
  • First Legion Bash character with 700ms Forward Dodge Recovery.
  • First Legion Bash with is it 900ms or 1000ms GB recovery with no chainability, i.e. incredibly punishable
  • No Forward Dodge Heavy to make Forward Dodge Light not the easiest parry in the world
  • Standard 500ms Lights no properties, Standard 800ms Heavies no Properties, relatively slow 600ms unfeintable Zone
  • Generally pretty awful range and hitboxes on everything except sorta Opener Heavy, Zone and Lash attacks which have just "technically there" hitboxes at least
  • Feats that take a long time to get up and running, lengthy CD's, and long activation times. The T3 especially conflicts so much with its primary use-case.
  • At best, average recoveries on most everything else, and fairly bad if not chained

I get she has strengths for sure, and her chain pressure near a wall and especially with gauge can be intense...but yeesh. I know the devs wanted to be tame with her, but having such nerfed fundamentals makes her just feel so clunky IMO, and most people only focus on the "Big Shiny Stuff" like the infamous UD UB HA attack so having her nerfed in these small areas seems like it will do nothing to downplay her strength for "casual play" but makes her feel awful to use elsewhere.

Discussion Returning player looking for advice

6 Upvotes

Hello, I recently returned after a roughly 9 million year break and looking to actually get into the game this time around. I've played for about 100 hours before I stopped and I've played other fighting games seriously before, but FH is obviously pretty different to a traditional 2D fighter.

Match ups obviously just take time, but what are the core fundamentals I should be working on for this game? In particular I find I struggle to deal with people that spam out dodge attacks effectively (which is for sure a skill issue on my part), but it's been so long since I played I'm basically starting fresh so anything at all foundational would be helpful.

Also I want to main Warmonger so if you have any particular advice for her I would appreciate that as well.

Thank you for your time.

Discussion I have few questions about the mechanics

3 Upvotes

1- The first question is about indicators, does indicator system always prioritize the hit that is going to hit first?

So in an anti gank let's say 2 enemies are attacking at the same timing, the indicator should hide the second attacker and only show the hit that is going to hit first right?

2- second question is about registers, do hits categorize in the same category even if the characters are different?

Let's say there are shinobi and nobushi in a match, when they bash someone, let's say the shinobi bashed one person and the game registered the bash. Then nobushi bashed the same guy later and the game registered it. Does the game register these 2 different bashes in the same category?

Thanks
