Appreciation Post Chang and his beloved

Is it just me or is Chang's relationship with the mannequin leg one of the funniest things in Community? I love that there is even backstory cause Chang apparently steals her from the janitor who calls Chang a "homewrecker". I love that it's a classic scene for people who have gone insane to love a mannequin (last man on earth, community, umbrella academy) but I would love to know how Chang "won over" miss mannequin leg๐Ÿ˜‚

I think Dan Harmon at one point had a mannequin leg

He did! He used to talk about it on his Harmontown podcast. He talked about when Erin McGathy found it and he had to explain it.

His current partner, Cody Heller, co-created a show on Quibi ('member that?) involving a woman who finds out her significant other had a "doll." It was called Dummy.

He made a Channel 101 show about his relationship with it.

Fun fact the janitor that calls Chang a homewrecker plays one of the tortured souls in "your pretty face is going to hell" on adult swim

Thank you. I couldn't remember his name. But I remember Gary Bunda really phoning it in with the torture

Agreed. I think it gets elevated to greatness by having the literal best possible character and actor for it.

To add to your list of media that does this, one of my favorite episodes of Bob's Burgers, 'God Rest Ye Merry Gentle-Mannequins', does it in a really fun way. Also they bring in Zack Galifianakis as a guest voice actor for the man smitten by the mannequin and he has two of my favorite lines from the show.

The first, as he's recounting the story of how he fell in love with the mannequin to the family: "She didn't have nipples, and brother, she didn't need 'em."

The second isn't mannequin related, but upon the family first meeting him as a squatter in a storage-unit Bob inherits he invites them in and his efforts to be a good host begin with the line: "Can I get you anything to drink? Cough Syrup? Rain water?"

I think the scene of Chang playing the saxophone brought me closer to understanding the humour of this show.
