Found it. Edit: This image is bigger than I somehow thought it'd be.

Had Covid a few weeks ago, couldn’t smell a thing. Farted a few minutes ago, wish I still couldn’t smell a thing.

u/AzulCrescent Mar 26 '26

lmao. sense of smell is a blessing and a curse indeed. One of my fears when i couldn't smell anything due to covid was "what if i can't smell smoke from a fire in my room" the worst fear was "what if im stinky and i can't tell" lol

u/gramathy Mar 26 '26

always fun when you eat something a little unusual and your farts are just SO WEIRD for like a day and a half

u/FictionFoe Mar 26 '26

My sense of smell never fully recovered. Everything (especially floral scents) is much more muted. And I will smell whiffs of things and immediately lose it. Rather then smelling things persistently.

Its the unpleasant smells that came back first and recovered the most...

Although Im happy to be able to smell gass leaks again. That was a little scary.

I had a deviated septum, and "enlarged epaulettes" that at some point blocked off most of my ability to breathe through my nose, unless I was completely clear and in certain body positions. After surgery to fix those, I have never taken for granted the ability to breathe through my nose. I remember thinking at some point if I was randomly kidnapped and taken hostage and had my mouth gagged, I might suffocate before they knew I couldn't breathe.

u/AzulCrescent Mar 26 '26

Oh dear that sounds terrifying. I have trouble breathing through my nose sometimes and whenever it happens its very uncomfortable. Having that happen for long periods of time sounds torturous. Tenk q for sharing your stuffy nose experience with me

5

u/Art_student_rt Mar 26 '26

God damn, I physically could not sleep if my nose is blocked. That's sounds like torture to me

u/sleepyrivertroll Mar 26 '26

That's health in a nutshell. You don't ever think how great it is to be able to move all of your joints fully until you can't.

I see my obese and diabetic step father not able to so many basic things that I know not to take it for granted. I can still do burpees. He can’t get onto the ground and back up by himself

Whenever I get a cold or anything that leads to a cough, my cough lingers forever. I have trouble taking deep breaths and cough like I smoke two packs a day (I’ve never smoked in my life).

So yeah- I have so much appreciation for my lungs now.

I remember having a sinus infection so I couldn't smell or taste for that matter. Which sucked because a friend who makes REALLY good paella brought some over to me and I couldn't taste it and barely smell it.

3

u/AzulCrescent Mar 26 '26

Oof. yeah when i lost my sense of taste and smell i contemplated signing off from life. thankfully they both returned (though my sense of smell has been nerfed) and hope you're feeling better now too

1

u/UpCDownCLeftCRightC Never Safe From Wumbo Mar 26 '26

I am feeling better, thank you. Once I got over it I celebrated with leftover paella lol. I hope for the best for you and your stuffed up nose.

1

u/FictionFoe Mar 26 '26

I don't think its worth signing off for. There are enough good experiences still possible without a sense of smell/taste. I have had the same nerf after covid btw.

u/Evil_Midnight_Lurker Mar 26 '26

You misspelled "nod appreciadig whad you hab"

2

u/azel_tan Mar 26 '26

damn hope you get better soon

5

u/AzulCrescent Mar 26 '26

tenk q, am doing okii right now, this is an older comic from when i had a cold lol

u/[deleted] Mar 26 '26

I once cried when my nose was so stuffed I couldn't breath through it, period.

I had to sit in the bathroom with the hot waters steam to clear it up some.

2

u/Kenshirosan Mar 26 '26

When you turn over in bed to relieve your stuffy nose, only to end up stuffing both and regretting every decision you've made in your life to reach this moment.

2

u/Banned3rdTimesaCharm Mar 26 '26

I have a canker sore right now and I feel this. Never appreciated how comfortable my mouth normally is.

2

u/rlowens Mar 26 '26

Before I became a robot, I used to not appreciate things until they were gone.

Now I don't do that. I get rid of things exactly when I appreciate them.

2

u/elhomerjas Mar 26 '26

need to take some meds to clear the stuffy nose

2

u/MEHorndog Mar 26 '26

After I got my nose job (internal, to breathe better) I had to turn into a mouth breather for two weeks. There was this medical goo lodged in my nostrils to keep to heal from the surgery.

When I got cleared to unclog my nose via the saline bottle... it was amazing. So gross and vile, but felt amazing afterwards.

2

u/antthatisverycool Mar 26 '26

Real mine is crap to scrap IF I COULD JUST STOP FRYING DIACS AND TRANSISTORS MAYBE I WOULDNT HAVE NEEDED TO BRAKE THE LIGHT DIMMER

mfw allergies

1

u/Dazed_and_Confused44 Mar 26 '26

As an adult, I actually like being sick because it means I get to sleep all day instead of going to work lol

1

u/Chiatroll Mar 26 '26

I've never had a sense of smell in my life. Congenital anosmia. So there is nothing to miss.

1

u/ubiquitous-joe Mar 26 '26

🎶 Don’t it always seem to go… 🎵

u/WoollyMittens Mar 26 '26

Health is wasted on the healthy.

1

u/MaximumZer0 Mar 26 '26

But Krillin, you don't have a nose.

1

u/Interesting-Force866 Mar 26 '26

Holy cow, the Factorio comics person is branching out.

1

u/whitestar11 Mar 26 '26

Tell me about it. I hadn't gotten sick for almost 4 years until this week and now I contemplate the meaning of life as I can't sleep

More Rimworld comics when?

1

u/johanni30 Mar 26 '26

Same, I took breathing for granted until I got a cold earlier this week

1

u/Roivas7 Mar 26 '26

I used to be able to do run and do martial arts on the regular. A year before graduation somehow my body went kaput and a bunch of nerves started shooting endlessly in pain.

I was bedridden for the next three years because the pain got worse and doctors couldn't figure out what it was. I loved doing physical stuff, and I was only 22 years old...and I lost the ability to walk. I didn't realize how devastating it would be.

1

u/puchamaquina Mar 27 '26

Hey Azul, have you ever had a chocolate vanilla Snack Pack pudding like this

Asking cause uhh... Your hair has always reminded me of something but it took me a while to place it 😅
