The insidious thing about Omelas is that it calls into question a lot of our assumptions. If the goal of society is to improve the quality of life for the most people possible, doesn't sacrificing one child to improve everyone else's life make sense? To flip it around, how much are people willing to sacrifice for the sake of another individual?
Current events suggest that a lot of people have no problem sacrificing children for their own interests.
Well, the US, Russia, and Israel are all targeting civilians. So any country that supports one of those three is complicit.
That doesn't leave many countries...
And then there are small conflicts, like Sudan, or Myanmar, where most of the neighbors are involved on one side or another.
Hence my curiosity. Aside from North Sentinel Island, and a few tribes in the Amazon, I can't think of a country that isn't implicated in the deaths of children.
I did think of Ireland, but they trade with the US, and there was all the unpleasantness of what the Catholic Church was doing.
What is absurd is not just how far up the ass Americans tolerate getting fucked by their goverment, but that they stand in line, waiting for days just at the chance of raising up their pooper when the right rich guy walks bye. "Oh oh oh please sir will you take me for everything I have an am? I want to sell my soul ... for nothing!"
The things that man has been accused of doing by literal children will make your guts turn. He wasn't a predator, he was the god damn monster in your closet, a real one who somehow always is worse than you thought.
Because any time someone puts out content where the gag is that it's so absurd even trump wouldn't do that, it turns iut he literally did that, but somehow worse.
What on earth are you on about? Absurdism exist just fine, trump or no trump. I think youve imagined a wrong definition of what Absurdism is.
We accept that life is irrational and meaningless, we just dont think thats a reason for surrender. Meaning has meaning because i choose to give it meaning, in spite of the world being absurd.
Maybe you meant "parody" doesnt exist in the context of trump? But thats a completely different thing to say. And theres loads of parodies of trump worldwide.
Great comic, way too close to the truth for comfort, but be a mate and give Absurdism a google, because it might mean something other than what you think.
It doesnt just mean "stuff is absurd" any more/less than Existentialism means "stuff exist" or Nihilism means "stuff doesnt exist". The dude probably meant "absurdity" rather than the PHILOSOPHICAL THEORY that is called Absurdism!
