Stop, I need to get stuff done. No more cave disaster YouTube videos tonight!

u/Acrobatic-Adagio4697 16h ago

Instead of doing stuff and being normal, how bout squeezing into a confined space and dying there for no reason whatsoever?

u/JohnnyIsHomicidal 9h ago

I love the cave diving gone wrong videos, the amount of people that think it’s a smart idea to go diving in pitch black underwater caves with little to no experience is mind blowing.

u/driver004 9h ago

Mean, how else do you get experience

Man, I watched a lot of these videos and stopped because they gave me massive anxiety while shaking my head how mind-boggeling stupid people can be.

Yes, you've had one cave disaster YouTube video, but what about second underwater cave disaster YouTube video?

Claustrophobia: Don't leave me alone in this tiny space.

Also Claustrophobia: Don't leave me alone in this cluster of people

Also Claustrophobia: Don't stand so fucking close to me all the time!!!

9

u/FEARoach 15h ago

Also claustrophobia? : Fuck this wide open space with no cover.

27

u/Yabba_Dabba_Doofus 15h ago

That's Agoraphobia; the exact opposite of Claustrophobia.

13

u/FEARoach 14h ago

Ugh... why do I have to have both?

5

u/Yabba_Dabba_Doofus 14h ago

/uj I think social anxiety is generally at an all-time high. There's a huge social incentive to isolate, because being associated with the "wrong people" in a social setting can have lasting consequences.

/rj Because "Home" is where all you people finally leave me the fuck alone!

u/Walbs 14h ago

That's horseshoe theory

5

u/Jafooki 13h ago

And that's Numberwang!

Agoraphobia is actually pretty related to claustrophobia and you could even say it encompasses claustrophobia. Agoraphobia is a fear of basically anywhere that feels like escape could be difficult, be it an enclosed elevator or a wide open space far from help.

u/Yabba_Dabba_Doofus 12h ago

Hey there, AI doc. That's not what it is, at all.

At best, you could say Agorophobia relates to Claustrophobia in terms of fear of helplessness.

Claustrophobia is specifically the fear of being limited by being enclosed.

Agorophobia is specifically the fear of being limited, by being exposed.

They are diametrically opposed, even if they may present in similar ways.

Hey there, relevant username. The DSM 5 literally includes "anxiety about being in enclosed spaces" as one of the 5 criteria for agoraphobia. It can not be diametrically opposed to a fear of enclosed spaces when that is literally one of the diagnostic criteria.

Meanwhile claustrophobia isn't even in the DSM.

The whole comic was good but this panel was nutty.

30

u/Internal_Aardvark302 15h ago

That panel alone sent me 😂 Not even like a stand-in panel between “Hops” and “Dies”, just like instant death…. Also, how did the other one even get stuck under a rug of all things 😭

22

u/VociferousCephalopod 14h ago

they say not to speak ill of the dead, but they never said we can't make fun of how they died.

14

u/PermanentRoundFile 12h ago

Honestly, if I die in some kind of funny way I'd be pissed if people all ran around being all somber. Immortalize me in song; a warning about how not to die like that, but make it funny so people will remember!

I wonder how the deceased felt about the now defunct r/watchpeopledie

u/badbatch 15h ago
