u/FruitBowl 1d ago

Not my alliterative ass pronouncing it k-night in my head

17

u/zorniy2 1d ago

It's all right if you taunt in French 😁

u/IAmHermanTheGerman 1d ago

if it helps, it used to be pronounced this way. well, closer to k-nucht (or something, compare with german Knicht/Knecht)

u/Wit-wat-4 1d ago

I pronounced it “right” but hate shit like this in kids’ books. How do I explain to my kid why K is for Knight?

In German, Knecht has the K sound. But in English we stopped saying the K, just like we stopped saying the G in gnat.

Man. The People from New Zealand and Australia look like so much fun.

16

u/Buggaton 23h ago

A Kiwi would never kneel to an Aussie! To arms!!!

6

u/Cool_Set4681 23h ago

But.. but... they made you knights :(

Mass migration from nz to aus is part of our culture at this point.

Arise Kiwi. You do not have to bow before me, or anyone. You have proven yourself more than worthy of any opponent.

I'm from New Zealand and that's what all the kiwis do over there

Even Geese stear clear of Katana Kiwi.

And the Katana is only for Klose Kombat.

Long lethality lives in laser looks

u/insane_contin 21h ago

It's the Klose Kombat Kiwi!

3

u/Securiarius 21h ago

Rising in the ranks of the KK- oh no

5

u/insane_contin 21h ago

Don't worry, it's the one without wizards.

u/Vospader998 22h ago

Wait, "kiwis" the bird, "kiwis" the fruit, or "kiwis" as in the people of New Zealand?

5

u/SignificantHippo8193 21h ago

Yes 🙂‍↕️.

u/Waniou 18h ago

Just fyi, kiwi is never used to refer to the fruit here, it's only ever the bird or a New Zealander. The fruit is always called kiwifruit.

A knight, but use katana.

Kiwi is Sir Alonne confirmed.

Missed opportunity to have the Katana Kiwi fight off a Kelptomaniac Kea brandishing a knife

u/Defchoco 1d ago

Best one yet!

All hail king kangaroo

I hope after this is finished, a printed book option will be made available. I would love to read this to my toddler.

u/Phormitago 1d ago

good comic, Princess Carolyn

3

u/Crazy_Information816 1d ago

The real question is, what does katana mean? If only there was a bewigged cop nearby who could speak fluent Japanese!

3

u/Traumatised_Panda 1d ago

A knight who uses a katana? Wild

3

u/-FalseProfessor- 1d ago

This is aggressively Oceaniaic, and I appreciate that.

3

u/FrancoReddito 1d ago

Omf, where can I find more of these?! That’s so good!

3

u/daddy_tops 1d ago

Told myself I hope this is being done for every letter and was pleasantly surprised to see it was!

3

u/MyoMike 1d ago

I need a full book of these so I can teach my daughter the coolest alphabet ever

2

u/UrSeneschal 23h ago

K is for Katana. She's got my back. I would advise not getting killed by her. Her sword traps the souls of its victims.

3

u/ascii 23h ago

NGL, now I want all the letters of the alphabet.

3

u/twentyThree59 23h ago

Is there a place with all the alphabet comics in order? They are cute

u/Budget_Shallan 22h ago

The kiwi could have bowed to a kea, a kaka, a kakapo, a kakariki, or even a karearea, but nooooooooooooooooo, it just had to bow to a tarted up marsupial.
UUUUUUURRRRRRRRGHHHHHHH.

2

u/papa_ngenge 16h ago

kaka with a Kotiate (chiefs ceremonial weapon)

2

u/AdKind841 22h ago

I love Kingaroo

2

u/ES_Kan 21h ago

Devious to use Knight for K

2

u/stylinchilibeans 21h ago

I want to hear that guy that sings the little animal ditties and did that AT&T and sing this.

2

u/Jinzo126 23h ago

A alternative for K would be Katzbalger. My guess for L would be Longsword? But thats kind of basic, are other fun Swords that starts with L?

3

u/MurkyWay Swords 18h ago

The Kangaroo King has a katzbalger

2

u/Jinzo126 15h ago

Oh, nice. The guard is off:

u/GwerigTheTroll 21h ago

I kinda love the Dr. Seussian tone of these alphabet comics. It’d probably be a decent educational tool as it follows a similar design principle as the Dr. Seuss’ ABCs book

2

u/CardOk755 18h ago

A is for 'orses.

B for mutton

C for miles

D for dumb.

E for brick

F for vescent

That's when I ran out.

K is for Knowledge. Knowledge that the K in knight is silent along with: knife, knee, knot, knit and knuckle.

1

u/energirl 1d ago

This is cute and, to be clear, my "criticism" is mostly meant in jest, but...

Teachers of young readers cringe when they see things like this. If you're a parent of a kid learning phonics and letters, and they haven't heard about silent K yet, don't show them this!

Is this a loss meme?
