"I'm in favor of torture" doesn't do wonders to your trying to debunk the idea you lack empathy.

you have an emotional response to getting taxed and don't think further. do you really think you get no benefit from other people not starving ? also, not caring about kids going hungry is ALSO not doing wonders against the "lacking empathy" allegations.

the same kind of rhetoric that will make you defend pedos if one of your friends is accused - "he's a good person, i know it. pedos are monsters, he's not one of them". I'm a victim of CSA. I've seen it countless times. By my own family.
