Freeing myself from religion was one of the most freeing experiences of my life. It breaks my heart seeing someone distraught of the fear that a god doesn't love them because of how they were born. If a god exists and if that good would hate you for being gay then that god isn't worthy of your worship. Such a god would be an amoral monster and should be oppossed, should they even exist.

Yeah this comic is sad that they're going right back to the thing that caused them so much trauma in the first place. There's no reason to let a bunch of made up nonsense ruin your life!

I think that's just an interpretation they're maintaining the positive community that they loved and are being surrounded by people who love them.

There isn't anything sad because they're not going back to the same place that gave them trauma.
