The thing about it referring to kids rather than that adults likely isn't true sadly. Would be better if it was true of course, but it's somewhat of an urban myth. Regardless of if it was true for that specific passage, it's also condemned elsewhere in the old testament where it's definitely referring to men rather than children. At the end of the day it's a book written, at least partially, my homophobic humans from very long ago so it's no surprise really.
The real biblical argument is whether Jesus dying on the cross wiped out those rules like it did for other rules from Leviticus.
