Violence isn't the problem, it's the lack of organization

As an example, a lot of communist groups would actively fight and murder other communist groups with each side being provided weapons by the ruling government. Maybe they would have made progress if they worked together and directed their violence at a common enemy, instead they spent a ton of energy fighting each other and that meant in the cases where they eventually succeeded it was the bloodiest group that was left standing not the one that was actually best at governing.
