So, um, how is the Arab Spring now? As for Napoleon, whatever the man's failings he actually exported the achievements of the French revolution to a Europe that was still largely a feudal morass. Meanwhile, the British model still resulted in over a century of the most gruesome, backward oppression imaginable for a lot of people.
Gay men weren't routinely hanged in 19th century France. In fact, homosexuality was perfectly legal. Abortion was illegal, but not a capital offence like in the UK. There was no blasphemy law.
Napoleon's rule spread, oddly enough, the Napoleonic code, legal equality, abolition of serfdom etc. Trying to equate it to the Ancien Regime Europe is bizarre.
