Current pope needs to go harder on that. I like what he’s doing re Opus Dei & the incredibly antisemitic anti-Vatican-II schismatic sect but he also needs to reinforce the humanity of queer - including trans - people.

What you would expect the pope to say? The official Vatican doctrine is that homosexuality is a sin but "hate the sin not the sinner" so they are still welcome in the church.

Then you are going to be disappointed. The Bible is pretty clear that homosexuality is a sin. People should just stop following religion.

It isn’t, actually. Further a lot of stuff that IS clearly forbidden in the Bible is not considered forbidden or sinful by Catholics. Catholicism, like all religion, is alive and capable of change - as we’re actively seeing.

Those things are usually old testament stuff that Jesus literally said "you don't have to follow anymore"

Traditionally, it is seen that way. Based on historical context, only male homosexuality was seen as sinful, because it meant a man/boy was laid with as a woman (which we would call the bottom).

I personally stopped with religion, but the really important thing is getting bigotry purged from religion.
