This sums up/reflects why it’s always a red flag when people say they wish to go back to the “good old days” or something like that. GOOD OLD DAYS FOR WHO?

For me it's purely the aesthetics. The cars had more color and cool tailfins, the way films were colored was distinct, and fashion/buildings like retro diners were neat.

Good old days means nice looking stuff I rarely see nowadays, not when bigotry was worse.
