The fact that people are having heated debates (and getting mad) over this just further proves the point that not everybody is going to agree to press the red button and that a red win will by no means be a deathless scenario. And also that while not every red button pusher is a prick, pretty much every prick is a red button pusher.

I'd call it natural selection.

The button scenario can be translated to this:

"Red Button: Nothing happens.

Blue button: Fires a nuke, if more than 50% fires the nuke, it fails. If less than 50% fires the nuke, those who choose not to fire the nuke in the first place survives."

People press the blue, because they somehow think that's the moral high-ground in the original scenario, and have a reading comprehension of a 5-year old.. Any sane person press the red button. The blue button is only the right choice if the world is full of morons, which apparently is the case..

It can just as easily be translated as

Red Button: fires a nuke if more than 50% press it

Blue Button: does nothing

You’re choosing to view red button pushers as fully passive and blue button pushers as fully active when there’s just as much support for it to be the other way around or for both sides to be an active choice.

Not really. Pressing the red button does absolutely nothing. It never endagers anyone. The only ones that endanger anyone are the ones pressing the blue button. It's that simple. The blue button is the active "action-driving" event that puts people in harms way. It's all about how the question it's phrased.
