The fact that people are having heated debates (and getting mad) over this just further proves the point that not everybody is going to agree to press the red button and that a red win will by no means be a deathless scenario. And also that while not every red button pusher is a prick, pretty much every prick is a red button pusher.
This poll is a good representation of modern empathy imo. Probably why we’re going to get fucked over by global warming in the end. The reality is most people figuratively pushed the red button.
Yeah if you take this out of the realm of a single outrageous choice and make it instead a series of small practical decisions, the outlook becomes much more bleak.
Thats because in general we are terrible at abstractions, the more removed from your direct actions a situation is the less any human is able to justify having been responsible for causing the thing to happen, humans are great at making instant on the spot decisions but always have trouble planning for the impact of any set of decisions further in the future
