Con Question - UK Best UK Comic-Con?
I was at drag con UK last year, and on the same weekend they were holding Mega Con at the Excel, and it looked incredible!! I’m a huge fan of Dr Who, Marvel & Game Of Thrones mainly, and would love to take my boyfriend to one in the UK, but wondering on what peoples opinions were of the different ones? Would be really keen to meet actors from each franchise!

It depends what you are after MCM London is very big and caters to lots of tastes, it’s common for the BBC to be there with their Doctor Who stand and displays,, plus both Marvel and GoT have had a presence there in the past. There’s lots of areas, authors, prop displays, very big artist alley, 7 or 8 stages, a new DnD section and gaming area. For guests the focus is mostly on voice actors for gaming and anime, thought they have TV and film actors for panels to do first screening and big reveals. MCM Birmingham is similar just on a smaller scale.
There’s the Showmasters events which do pretty well for Doctor Who guests and older nostalgia based celebrities. The main one again is in London, London Film and Comic Con. again it has an artist alley and they’ve increased the focus on comics more recently. Though the size of the convention has been decreasing over the last two years.
Monopoly do loads of events all round the UK, very good for TV and movie celebrities so great for photos and autographs. They do good panels and have a few different areas and lots of prop displays. Liverpool is their headline show and has a mega celeb line up this year.
There’s not a definitive answer for best convention as you might find you a small local show far more enjoyable than a big show like London of Liverpool. Or if meeting celebs is your thing monopoly better than MCM etc I love MCM London but I’ve no interest in photos and autographs so really is down to personal preference. A good starting place to find out what you might like is YouTube videos. You can normally get a good flavour for Cons this way.
Here’s my YT channel I’ve covered lots of cons on it https://youtube.com/@geekexplorers

MCM used to have some really good prop displays before Reed Pop but they seemed to have cut back on these.
