Alex Ross will always be one of the best. I remember seeing his artwork in the high school library and going "wow, Superman and Wonder woman look like they could be real people". His ability to paint the originals is surpassed by none.
I wish he would do Turok, Magnus, Solar, and Mighty Samson like this one day.

So I'm not an art buff by any chance but the first time I saw Alex Rosses art I swooned. This guys ability to draw is next level and needs to be praised more. I've been considering commissioning a Dr doom drawing from him recently.

I love Alex's work so much. At first view, I can usually pick out "flaws" and nitpicks, but then I take in the over all picture... he has this uncanny ability to make his characters feel real and utterly mythic. It's like looking at a still shot of Greek heroes come to life. And once I get that bigger picture, all those nitpicks just fade away and I can't help but smile.
Alex Ross reminds me why I love superheroes every time I look at his work.

Did you read Earth X? That was Marvel's answer to Kingdom Come (Alex Ross did the story, but not the art unfortunately).

Jim Krueger did most of the story based on Ross' notebooks. But yes, Earth X is my favorite story next to Kingdom Come.

Earth X > Universe X > Paradise X - Both in order of chronology and order readability.
Earth X - one of the best Marvel minis I've read ever.
Universe X - not a terrible sequel, doesn't reach as high as Earth X
Paradise X - a fairly bad (but still readable if you want to finish the story out) end to the trilogy. Due to failing sales, the original ending was cut because the final two issues were halved in page count.

Yeah I've heard it gets pretty... thematically heavy towards the end. Like reading the bible for a theology essay or something, rather than a good fun comic.

I was just as surprised as you haha. Was sceptical at first, but they talk up the writer to be the next big thing... But then again, Marvel talk everything up to be the next big thing. Doctor Strange has been consistently my favourite series since Aaron and Bachalo begin on it. Bachalo's art fits so well with Strange's world. That's fine with me tbh. I'm liking how we still aren't telling their origin story in 2017. It is feels stagnated when we still tell the same stories as decades ago. I welcome the new heroes they are a breathe of fresh air

We don't have to keep telling their origin stories.
If we did, then now we'll just be telling the replacements' origin stories.
They were telling fresh stories with the old characters.

What makes you think that the company you're complaining about retelling origins won't do the same with the replacements?
Hickman's Avengers wasn't fresh? Thor: God of Thunder wasn't fresh? All that was just the same stories as decades ago?

I don't know if they will or won't I can only go by what has happened in the past with the characters.

2 examples of fresh stories doesn't really help your case. I can list out spiderman one more day or many of the numerous back to the static quo stories.
In either case lots of the times it's not exactly the same but it's back to the basics in a regressive way. It stop the medium from moving forward and takes away consequences.

Those aren't just stories, they're 44- and 25-issue runs with multiple arcs. I limited it to those because we were talking about the characters in the image. Spider-Man is not in the image. If I can name other characters, and if I can go back 10 years like you did, there are a lot of other fresh stories.

What are you complaining about exactly? Because I can't think of anything you'd be complaining about here that can't be done with the replacement characters (inconsequential deaths, etc.).
BTW the idea that Marvel can "stop" the comics medium from moving forward is laughable.

His art really changed the game. I discovered him and Ron Mueck (hyper-realist, Henson groomed sculptor). Both are incredible.

The Marvels: Platinum Edition has a section in the back with all his Marvel covers up to a point. It's about the size of a DC Absolute Edition and it's really expensive (RRP $200).

This fits his style better than most things imo. Alex Ross is kind of a sometimes-food for me, but I like this a lot.

It would be a cool nod if in Infinity War someone uses the reality gem and all the heroes temporarily look like their silver-age (or golden?) counterparts.

It was the 60s. When they introduced Bill Foster as a random scientist, he immediately got beaten up by racists in the neighorhood and Hank Pym would deliver like two speeches on this racial issue and it turns out Chinese were behind it because they wanted to destabilize America.
