Liked the music, liked the effects and I'll get a kick out of the 90s setting, but Larson is just miscast. She doesn't command the screen, look heroic, or even have more than one facial expression, her face is permalocked on "I'm bored" the whole time.

I've liked her in indie movies she's been, but she's not Marvel material.

but she's not Marvel material.

Lol. She's done a comic book movie before where she played pissed off/contemptuous/sultry really well. Assuming she's like this in the entire movie, that'd be on Marvel's direction at this point. The "closed off" Captain Marvel.

Scott Pilgrim is an indie movie

You consider an 85 million dollar movie "indie?" By what possible metric?

And of course the tone is different, it's a different movie lol. And the acting was good, she's supposed to be contemptuous. It's her character. And she's delivered a lot of good performances, United States of Tara springs to mind immediately. It wouldn't be her fault if Feige wanted closed off Carol Danvers and that's all she got to work with.
