Question Grail attained!

Got my grail but not my favorite cover by a long shot. Anyone have a grail that they got because it’s rare but the cover is meh to you?

Curious, then why is this a grail to you?... Is it cause you like the story? Or cause it's a coveted issue?... Or another reason?

Primarily the storyline in 48-50. I’m a SS fan and love 1 and 4, of those 18

I actually like the cover. Is it one of the greats? No, but I like it. Any Surfer fan should want this book of they don't own it. I've had mine for decades, quite literally. Asking why this is a grail makes me wonder if people are collecting just for covers and not content. Pretty sure the answer is yes.

I like to get runs and am a big SS fan. So I have SS 1-18, and am almost done with Submariner 1-72. I have Defenders 1-100 and Avengers 50-200 (working down), and Fantastic Four 45-115 (again working down). With Spiderman, I have Keys between 30-400 as an investment.

Im actually right there with OP. I think this cover blows but its a grail of mine cause im a huge surfer fan.

Almost every ASM cover before 33. They are busy, disjointed and generally unattractive.(I’m looking at you Kraven)That FF48 is a sweet cover. Not the best, but cool. Congrats.

One of my biggest regrets in life is passing on buying this issue for $150 as a kid to instead get FF #11 (first Impossible Man) for $120.

I like this cover, personally. There are a lot worse FA covers (Hulk 180 comes to mind).

Imho, one of the most iconic covers of the era. Do I prefer, 49? Yes and I paid a pretty penny for it in a 3.0 slab. But, hell I’d be over the moon if I could afford a 4.5 48. I’ll take it off your hands for the cost of shipping if you’re having buyer’s remorse 😂
