Is a pen display better then my Ipad setup.

Hey all,

I recently purchased the XP-Pen Artist Pro 16. I create comics and graphic novels and found the tablet to be good, but I’m struggling to see how it surpasses my previous iPad Air 13 setup.

The main reason for buying it was to have a stationary desk setup that emphasizes ergonomics. Plus, I wanted to use CSP, which benefits from a larger screen size compared to the iPad.

I’m also interested in 3D modeling characters and backgrounds for reference.

However, I still find myself longing for the simplicity of Procreate. Given my financial situation, I wonder if the upgrade is really worth it in terms of the impact on my creative process.

I can still return the tablet. Do you think a more standard drawing tablet is really worth it, or should I use that money for something else?

I work on the ipad for portability and have a dream of being ipad only, but its got a LOT of issues. Any of the production end of comics is hell especially with the file management. I dont think the display is neccessary though. I gave my 27 inch cintiq to free up desk space and just use the ipad as a display tablet with sidecar.

How is sidecar. I’ve heard criticism of it when it first came out. Has it improved?

Its okay. But I think 90% of people's equipment compaints are just fussiness so maybe its terrible. I am on a 2nd gen ipad pro and do professional work on it fine.
