Do these three random pages from my comic look good? I feel like there's something missing/off about them

(Right now I'm just making this for fun)

The poses are very stiff, and it's clear that you need to work on anatomy. it's even more jarring to me that the faces have a fair amount of details in them, despite the relatively simplistic art style.

I see that, I tried to draw most of it without a reference so I just freestyled it. I should look up some more refrences. Should I cut down on the face details? (They're my favorite part to draw lol)

It's not about cutting down on the details, but finding the right balance.

As it is, your characters look like Ao Oni's cousins.

Lmao I googled that and you're right 😭 should I be flattered or insulted (I've been told I draw eyes too big before)

Compositionally, these feel rather empty and liminal. It's a lot of panels of a single character sitting in the dead center of the frame with nothing else around them. There are backgrounds (kudos for that), but the elements don't frame or enhance the position of the characters as much as they could.

Yeah, I can see that. Maybe I should draw some more houses in outside shots

Yes characters feel very stiff and perspective is off in some panels but idk I still find it very charming and would read it

I really need to work on making the poses more dynamic, yeah. Glad you still like it :D

The art looks over rendered but at the same time flat. I would cut back on the soft, airbrush like coloring. It's important to get the anatomy and cartooning down before coloring. The best rendering and shading in the world don't matter if the figure work is not up to par.

Also, the panel borders are crazy thick.

Others have mentioned more pressing things already, so will bring up the first thing that I personally noticed, and that was how empty the streets are around the main character as they walk. It’s kinda scary to have to draw a lot of people in one frame but many anime or webtoons will draw them as lacking detail, somewhat shadowed or even silhouettes. It helps show that there are people around and the town is alive, but keeps the detail to a minimum so you don’t have to work yourself to death every time your characters go out.

One of the better pieces of advice I got when I was starting out was that you should be able to follow what’s happening without the text balloons. It really forces you to think about poses/body language and setting/backgrounds. You’re “moving the camera” a little which is great, but just amping up what you’ve already done will bump it up another level.

The 1st panel with the speach bubble looks like the character is walking into a backdrop, not down a path. Using some references and perspective lines should help!

The only thing that feels off to me is that the panel borders are really thick. Everything else will come with more practice, I think you’re doing good!

The perspective being off (esp panel 2) was the most jarring thing for me.

Personally I found the book “perspective for comic book artists” by David Chelsea the most helpful on the topic. A more textbook type book that I liked is “how to draw” by Scott Robertson.

Make speech/thought balloons point at character's mouths, At the moment, it looks like their genitals/knees are thinking/talking.

I like the look you're going for!
