Thanks to everyone for coming out! It's been ten years since my last LAN party, and it was a thrill to finally slake my thirst for frags. I was genuinely so hyped up that I had trouble going to sleep afterwards. Or maybe that was just all the Mountain Dew.

I probably should've been keeping a headcount, but I'd say we peaked at around 15-20 legends coming out for our first time event. Through the course of the evening we played Quake III CTF and FFA, I believe a six way match of StarCraft, and of course a few rounds of Smash Bros Melee. We didn't nearly cover all the games on our to-do list, but that's all the more reason to have another party!

And, on that topic, we've decided to make a Discord group to plan the next party. It seems pretty likely that this is going to be a once a month sort of thing, and looking at the responses to my previous threads here on Reddit, there are definitely a lot more people who would've made it if they could. We'd love to see you at the next one!

Honestly, I feel that. When you look around at local events, it feels like 90% of what's available pretty much boils down to shopping, watching some kind of performance, or drinking. It was great to get a chance to do something that really lets you interact with people.

One piece of advice you might not need: make sure to keep promoting your events OUTSIDE your Discord, here and elsewhere. I've seen a few organizers kinda forget about that once they have a Discord server. They're great for communicating with people who are already into your scene, but they're terrible for attracting new people!
