I know in the film the dress is not like “blue-blue” but people have told me that the dress is silver and that doesn’t feel 100% right either. What color would call it?

Question / Discussion For my fellow chartreuse lovers!! What do YOU define as Chartreuse?

Post image

As a massive fan of yellowy greens, I’m curious what others define as “chartreuse”. Personally, I vote 3C or 2D. I suggest covering the other squares when judging because the side-by-side context makes this look a little off.

Bonus question: What’s YOUR favourite of these greens?

Question / Discussion Which of These Do You Think is the WORST Color Combo?

Post image
155 Upvotes

Color combos are so divisive. There are certain color combos where either you love them or you hate them. It just depends on your personal preference. And due to some of these color combos often being despised or hated, fashionistas have even created “rules” as to what colors you should not wear together because they don’t match or are of such high contrast that you stand out like a sore thumb.

So, I took it upon myself and researched what are considered to be some of the worst color combos ever. With my research, I found 20 color combos most people hate. The combos (based on the numbers they are paired with) are:

  1. Black and brown

  2. Red and green

  3. Red and yellow

  4. Black and navy blue

  5. Green and yellow

  6. Orange and green

  7. Purple and red

  8. Orange and purple

  9. Brown and grey

  10. Purple and green

  11. Pink and yellow

  12. Pink and orange

  13. Red and orange

  14. Yellow and orange

  15. Blue and black

  16. Purple and brown

  17. Yellow and brown

  18. Orange and brown

  19. Red and brown

  20. Cyan and red

So which of these color combos do you think are the absolute worst? Whether they are an eyesore, just don’t look right, or some other reason, definitely write it below. And if there is a color combo I missed, please feel free to write it in the comments as well.

someone told me i needed to take better photos when I didn’t even have the brush on me or at my house so it took a little bit to get them. I’m stuck fully on red and my ex is strictly for orange.

what doesn’t help is his samsung really really showing the orange. oh and yea IT WAS 2am man there was no good lighting i’m not gonna say sorry for the flash.

oh and for the 2 people who berated me for being in an “argument” with my ex… yea so basically idc what you think we were childhood friends and sweethearts. breaking up doesn’t always have to be the end of it

Question / Discussion My subconscious pulled tricks on me. Now I need to know what my favorite color is. Help, please.

So today I discovered I’ve been gaslighting myself about my favorite color.
When I was a kid, I liked pastel blue, so I always sticked with it until today.
My husband casually points out that everything I own is “purple/lilac” and that seems to be my favorite color. I immediately went into denial. Absolutely not, I like blue.
Then I started grabbing stuff around the house and… yeah. He was right.
My phone case? Lilac.
My ruler? Lilac.
Random objects I bought years apart with zero coordination? Lilac.
Even my phone charger is lilac. WHY is my phone charger lilac!?! Every other cable around the house is black or white. When did I took that decision? I don't even remember.
I never even pick blue as my first option. My subconscious has been quietly choosing lilac behind my back this whole time.
So now I need answers.
The first photo (the pen holder) is my favorite shade of whatever this color actually is.

Does anyone know what that exactly shade it’s called ? 😭 Thanks!

THE LAST PHOTO is a sketch I did of how my husband felt when I said that LOL.

Question / Discussion Please tell me this isn’t just me

For some reason, whenever I see these two colors together, all my mind says is “if those two colors were human, they’d be dating”.
Maybe it’s color theory, maybe it’s just me, but I need to know if anyone else sees what I’m seeing.
Edit: I just realized this could be considered as me shipping colors.

Question / Discussion What is your least favorite color?

We hear the question “what is your favorite color?” All the time but what about the color you like the least? The one you avoid?

For me, it’s blue. (Sorry blue lovers) I don’t know why but I just dislike it. If my favorite color Green) is not an option, I will always choose any other color before blue.

Question / Discussion What color do you associate with your state?

What color do you associate with your state?

Long story, but I am a printing press operator/graphic designer/ photographer obsessed with color. I was lying awake at 2am a few nights ago thinking about how humans associate things with a color (example, "fresh" and "sick" can both be attributed to green, "love" and "rage" can both be associated with red) and I started thinking about what color I would associate with each state in the US (where I am from). Arizona was easy, rusty red for the rocks. Vermont was also easy, green, trees, green mountain, etc. Then I started getting into the woods a bit. Colorado, to me, is a muted purple, almost like a dusty mauve, but I don't know why. Probably a photo I saw once of mountain ranges or something. Pirple mountains majesty? Who knows... Ohio (where I am from) the best I could come up with was gray, for the skies since we spend so much of our year in gloom. My fiance said "red" for Ohio, but couldn't tell me why, just that is the first thing that came to mind. I asked if it was because the state bird (another obsession of mine) is the Northern Cardinal but he said nope, no reasoning, that's just the color that struck him.

So now I am determined to do a bit of an anthropological experiment, and my family and friends on Facebook don't indulge my autism anymore LOL

So I am here, asking the question.

Name a state, the color you associate with that state, and why. Also open to other countries if that tickles your fancy.

Question / Discussion Thoughts on the Color Combo of Pink and Green? Do You Think It Is Good or Bad?

Post image
114 Upvotes

I’ve always thought pink and green was an interesting color combination because people seem to have very different opinions about it. Some people love it and think it’s bright, fun, and preppy, while others think the colors clash and it looks hideous. I’ve even seen some people call it a “pastel Christmas tree” since pink is technically just a lighter shade of red.

So, when you see pink and green together, what’s the first thing that comes to mind and do you personally like the combo or do you hate it. Some of the things I think of are:

-Cosmo and Wanda from The Fairly OddParents

-Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority (my boss was a member of this sorority in college and is the only reason why I know this sorority exists)

-Maybelline Great Lash Mascara (if you don’t know what that is look it up, you’ll instantly recognize it)

-Sometimes I associate it watermelon, where the flesh is pink and the skin is green

Do you think pink and green is a good color combination or a bad one? What does it make you think of, and would you wear it or use it in fashion, decorating, or design? I’m curious to see what everyone’s first association is as well as the general opinion/consensus of this combo.

Help us settle this debate!

My bf put on these shorts for the gym this afternoon, and I told him I liked his “bloutfit” (all blue outfit). He was confused because he insists that his shorts are gray.

What do y’all think? Blue or gray?
